Because Catholics are supposed to go once a year or something. The priest read a letter from the bishop that talked a lot about marriage, fair enough. Then it mentioned the "tricky issues around gender".

I spent the rest of mass wondering if a transman could be a catholic priest or not.

Hi @Carowiththegoodhair thanks for responding, it was lovely. I need to plan my time better this year to get back into my good habits. The Church is a real source of comfort and strength for me.

Stonewall are really dressing wolves in sheep's clothing, such a dangerous organisation.

No a trans man cannot be a priest. I asked my friend who is an archbishop about it once. He said he'd be prepared to go to prison for refusing it to allow it.

@Serenschintte I don't see how they could. They would be well known by their parish priest, vocations team, and bishop. They have to have psychometric testing before they are accepted and seminary is 7 years in a residential college.

Catholic Church thinks that sex = gender. That is, sex stereotypes are natural and proper and should be followed, generally speaking. Obey husband etc.

Well, no, I don't think that's really accurate FWR. I think they would say there are certain sex roles that are natural, though they also give a fair bit of room for people to live outside of those.

Catholic church doesn't say you have to obey your husband. There are some biblical literalists across all types of Christianity that take androcentric musings from Ancient Israel as fully applicable to modern life. The rest of us take a more nuanced view.

I went to a wedding the other day and the husband was reminded that he was not in charge!! Grin

“One secondary school in London sent children home with a fuzzy letter about being kind to those whom God has given the wrong bodies”

Surely this is blasphemy? Seriously, I haven’t been to mass in years but this made my jaw drop! Have these idiots explained to God that his mistakes are being noticed and he’d better stop slacking off if he wants to keep his divine status?
