Excellent compehensive work from Fair Play For Women

Not sure what that means, but if I were named as a 'terf' I'd have to own it and say yes I'm worried about trans activists, Doxxing is another abuse.

HamAndPineapple · 14/12/2019 11:25

Ah. Right. Sorry OP

HamAndPineapple · 14/12/2019 11:27

Just read that. Apologies for my total ignorance. I'm not English, not living in the UK. I get the issues though but hadn't heard of fair play for women. Good for them.

happydappy2 · 14/12/2019 11:34

Interesting-I imagine if you are running for election a little bit of diplomacy goes a long way-insulting people is never a good look.

PJsatMidday · 14/12/2019 11:43

All white and I will wager, all middle class (you know, the people they hate the most when applying those adjectives to feminists). Several running against people of colour (who in their oppression olympics, have never had to deal with the oppression a bloke in a frock has to deal with). All complete idiots. I will laugh like a fucking drain if they all lost.

JellySlice · 14/12/2019 11:46

Excellent article.

I think a lot of people who use the word terf do not have any concept that it is offensive. I'm not excusing those politicians - most of those quotes make it clear that the word has been used in a deliberately derogatory way. But in general it has been used so much that it is becoming normalised.

Anyway, terf is a moronic oxymoron. To be feminist is to be trans-exclusive: transmen are included in feminism.

JellySlice · 14/12/2019 11:47

Bugger!

Teach me to proof-read!

GCAcademic · 14/12/2019 11:59

I will laugh like a fucking drain if they all lost.

I'm pretty sure they did. The biggest laugh goes for Labour's Sophie Wilson, running in Rother Valley to replace a departing Labour candidate. This ghastly individual is grotesque enough to tell survivors of sexual violence in her constituency (who include the wonderful Sammy Woodhouse) that sex work is empowering and that they are bigots for not wanting males in female refuges.

WomanBornNotWorn · 14/12/2019 12:09
  1. '... the abusive slur ‘Terf’ has been used by seven Liberal Democrat candidates, seven Labour party candidates, four Green Party Candidates and three Scottish Greens.

We found no use of the word by candidate for the Conservatives, SNP and Plaid Cymru.'

  1. The term is now clearly accepted as being an insult.

' Mr Justice Julian Knowles, High Court Judge recently acknowledged that ‘terf’ is now a derogatory term used to silence others.'

Some claim they didn't know it's offensive.

Context and vocabulary often suggest otherwise, eg '“Terfs CAN go definitely fuck themselves”. Samuel Sweek (Labour)'

Shows either ignorance of current thinking - or deliberate fake naivety.

(Quotes from FP4W article)

So I do wonder ... Looking at the result map, might this have played a small part in voter decisions?

This was posted on the Green Party Women Facebook page. They are getting all the usual insults thrown at them (including TERF Hmm). It's no wonder that MPs are bowing to this shit, the bullying is relentless.

What an absolutely disgusting individual.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/12/2019 12:16

I wouldn't let Sophie Wilson run a carpool. The fact that Labour put her up for that particular constituency seems downright malicious, classic kick people when they're already down so they know who's boss stuff.

It's been a genuine delight to see some people told in very clear terms by the electorate that they are not in fact on the "right side of history" and that the public would rather like it if they would bugger off.

PJsatMidday · 14/12/2019 12:16

All they have is insults. They can't do reasoned argument, because there is no reasoned argument.

HandsOffMyRights · 14/12/2019 12:24

I can confirm Lee Dargue did not win the seat in Birmingham. It was a Labour safe seat with Shabana Mahmood winning easily.

However, it is an important seat as it covers Birmingham central and some of the poorest constituencies in our region, with half the constiuency comprising ethnically diverse groups.

I spoke to women and their husbands from those groups around the time of the GRA deadline and they were concerned when I explained what the removal of single sex exemptions would entail - the last thing they need is Lee Dargue telling women to share their spaces with men.

I will laugh like a fucking drain if they all lost.

Just checked. Laugh away.

From Janice Turner's blistering column today:

A Doncaster businessman described the amazing community flood relief effort as “the spirit of Brexit”. Here Brexit means: “We’re far from power, can’t rely on anyone, so we’ll do it for ourselves.” Whereas Sophie Wilson, the losing Momentum Labour candidate for Rother Valley, when asked how she’d help flood victims, replied: “First we must address climate change.”

Dear god, how did this clueless numpty end up standing for a mainstream political party?

I just despair.

Thank, nauticant!

ClosdesMouches · 14/12/2019 15:25

Sorry, haven't RTFT as am abroad on a shitty internet connection.

Will read the article later but will say that most of the mostly men who are referring tp women as TERFs know full well that it's a slur.
It's more socially acceptable than calling us cunts, and they still gain woke points from their beardy bros.

Someone on another thread kindly provided a share token version of the link:

When Carol Thatcher called the tennis player Jo-Wilf Tsonga a 'gollywog,' she had no idea she was being racist.

The measure is not the intent but the effect on all who hear it.
