Absolutely horrendous and essential viewing.

This is chilling.

Have just finished watching and am horrified that anyone could advocate for self id with this is mind. But unfortunately so few people care about women in prison despite them being amongst the most vulnerable in our society

Thanks for posting. Heather Mason really knows her stuff, she rocks. I'm sure I read her article somewhere so I'll look it up in a bit. 80% of women in for drug offences. Just mad in a country like US where unregulated prescription drug addiction has been decimating communities. Dopesick by Beth Macy gives a heart wrenching overview of the destruction.

Women in prisons have a right to be kept safe. It can't all just be stacked in men's favour. UK prison service have a duty to provide their prisoners with dignity and respect. Allowing men in to sexually harass women does not come anywhere near meeting those standards.

I'd like to see source of the stats that 50% of transfer requests come from male prisoners with sex offending behaviours, whilst comprising only 20% of male estate overall.

I know that UK prison staff predicted that the system would be abused in this way by people who consistently push boundaries, who don't think rules apply to them.

125 transwomen of whom 60 are sex offenders (48% are sex offenders), compared to13,452 sex offenders in a total male prison population of 69,307 (19.4%).
