Legal action launched in row between National Theatre and lesbian group

Legal action is being launched in a dispute between the National Theatre and a group of lesbian claimants.

A group of women claim their human rights were violated when they were refused service at a theatre bar in July this year.

They allege they were turned away for sporting t-shirts with definitions, including “Lesbian – noun - a woman who loves other women”, before being confronted and asked to leave by security.

They have enough money put aside in case they lose, right? I don’t want to be all doom and gloom but a local group to me launched a case against the local council. It looked like a no brainer they would win (it was less contentious than trans stuff) but the judge ruled against them and lumbered them with the councils costs. They’re obligated to meet those personally and they run into ££,£££. It was really shocking and I wouldn’t want that to happen to anyone else.

What are they claiming they said that was abusive?

Women are viewed an easy target. I hope the theatre is forced to take a long hard look at its anti-women stance. The way it treated these women is appalling.

Excellent news. That was blatant lesbophobia by the National Theatre. Is there a funder? I'd be happy to put a few pounds in if it's needed.

If they win, the National Theatre are forced to confirm they won't be throwing lesbians out for being lesbians. Openly. With T-shirts. And promotional material.

And if they lose, the National Theatre will be forced to say exactly the same. We didn't. We wouldn't. The very idea.

There's probably a crowdfunder and it's probably a legal one and it's probably asking for equal treatment for lesbians...

In a human rights case? Surely costs would only be awarded if the charges were vexatious and/or they'd acted unreasonably?
