Private Eye on changing rooms

This issue was out last week but I don't think anyone else has posted it.

Their satirical Talk Boards column mentions M&S's changing rooms policy. It even refers to Jean Hatchet! Up to now, Private Eye has been mildly gender critical, but I can't tell whether they're taking the piss out of the M&S position, or the gc position, or both.

Ricky G is a useful ally because he has such a big social media platform but his Twitter bio says Godless, Ape, Comedian. Pinned tweets are all about his (massive) career successes. That’s all fine but he’s not making being gender critical part of his Twitter bio as a permanent thing.

@jeanhatchet, I'd have it framed and put in the downstairs loo Grin.

theflushedzebra · 11/12/2019 11:22

Quite chuffed with this. Am I allowed to be chuffed?

Oh yes! Grin

I'm sure Millie Tant is probably painted as a TRF now and Spoilt Bastard reminds me of OJ. Modern Parents probably have a stunning and brave child*

-that actually makes me want to a buy a copy of Viz!

I grew up with PE, my dad always had it from waaaaay back in the 60s. When I left home, I missed it so got it on subscription. Later, when I was stoney broke, (had to stop working due to disability) I would ask MIL to buy me the annual subscription for my Xmas present - she wanted to give me girly stuff, but obliged. When she died, that stopped, so I haven't been able to get it regularly for some years now. No one believes that a sub to PE is what I really want!

I have the latest though. It's so nice to read it again, been a year or so....

I don't have a copy in front of me but there was quite a subtle dig in the last issue - one contributor tried to take them to task in the letters page and, while they published his letter, they put a GC cartoon immediately beneath it.

Natsku · 11/12/2019 18:47

I think it's time I got a subscription. I've been meaning to for ages but never get around to it - this can be a Christmas present to myself.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/12/2019 18:57

I haven't noticed anything in Viz - dh still has a subscription and I leaf through it from time to time.

BitOfFun · 11/12/2019 21:28

I have a subscription to Private Eye- they do have pretty decent offers from time to time.

Wauden · 11/12/2019 21:42

The Viz annual is on sale. Yay.

@Freespeecher yes that was classy

HandsOffMyRights · 11/12/2019 22:35

I might have to get the Viz annual. We have a few from way back and I still enjoy flicking through them.

Everything's so sanitised now, so humourless and I want a bit of the subversive.

also some genuine non-cartoon-based journalism on the topic.

Ellues might be worth making a new thread with your post? It will probably confirm what a lot already suspect but interesting to see all the same.
