Thanks - what a fascinating read. (As an HRT user I've been following this for some time, and this is far and away the most plausible suggested explanation I've seen.)

Sorry I couldnt wade through all that. My GP said there had been an issue with adhesive for patches which had led people to change products and a huge knock on effect
