UK Election 2019 - all male candidates

Well there are no women candidates where I am. With a trawl through other places and possible people, it looks to me like there are 74 constituencies which will definitely return a man versus 4 that will definitely return a woman. Gah! Somewhat depressed now. Apologies if this has already been mentioned, I did look but couldn't see anything.

There are more female candidates than in 2017. Labour has 53% female candidates. One of them is of course Dawn Butler whom nobody would miss if she weren't standing. I appreciate some of these women
might have been put into a constituency which they have no hope of winning.

My own constituency is almost certainly going to be held by a woman.

That's an odd way of looking at it.
Surely actual MPs is more important than candidates.
In my town, there are 4 seats up for grabs.
One will be a man, not only because there are 4 men standing for one seat, but that the same man has held it since 1979 and will probably never change.
Two have 5 men and 1 woman standing, but the women will win them, they're safe seats.
The last has 3 women standing and 5 men, but it's likely to be won by the woman who holds it or one of the men.
So out of 19 men and 5 women candidates, we will end up with 2 or 3 female and 1 or 2 male MPs. Most likely 3 women and 1 man.
But I suppose it does raise the issue of participation. More women candidates is of course better!

Same with my constituency, OP. Five men.

It's a shame but for every 'female' candidate band I'd now feel compelled to take a second look if you know what I mean.

*standing

OhHolyJesus I know what you mean, but what is the reality?
The four women MPs in my area were all born women.
