'Gender' required to enter a race

I was entering an event and saw the classic "gender" box.

I think it's fine that you have male and female classes but I guess that's sex (biology) not gender based?

Do people who put 'non binary' have a specific set of results alongside males and females?

On the race I saw it was: a UK marathon in 2020.

You are correct the male and female classes are sex based not gender based.

People who are non binary do not have a separate set of results alongside males and females yet. But they appear on the full results list along with every runner in the race 😊

That's interesting. So would that mean they can't win in either category?

A bit like Sam Smith, can he still be nominated in a best male vocalist category?

I've seen this before in races where they've been clear that the non binary category does not have prizes and nor are you eligible to win prizes in the male and female categories.
