Anyone seen this? General election 2019: What to look out for on LGBT issues "GRA has nothing to do with trans accessing bathrooms. That's a right already covered by the Equality act. Watch out for any politician framing the debate this way."

Have I interpreted that correctly, is he saying that trans people already have a right to their preferred bathroom? (do they? Or is it just GRA?) and not to trust any politician questioning this?

There's already a thread on this, but no, this is indeed the woke express to wokesville, liberally scattered with blatant inaccuracies like the one you highlighted

Birdsfoottrefoil · 17/11/2019 21:34

It is already covered by the Equality Act: if bathrooms are single sex spaces then transwomen must not be prevented from using the men’s toilets and should not use the women’s toilets.

That's troubling because I can't see where a gender recognition certificate means you get to alter your birth certificate

And no the equality act does not say your feelings come first

slipperywhensparticus · 17/11/2019 21:37

Ok found out they get a new one which surely has dbs implications? I always assumed that it was linked up in the system but if you have a new birth certificate that's a reset button right there?

WhatTheFrock · 17/11/2019 21:41

Sorry, didn't see the other thread despite looking. I'll have a look.

Yes, there was a thread on that a couple of months ago. Bit of a problem there.

slipperywhensparticus · 18/11/2019 07:06

Bastards why has no one addressed this fucking ever?
