One customer fumed that the Newcastle branch of KFC was ignoring 'women's rights'

Following the revamp three cubicles at the Liverpool Road KFC had become mixed-gender, with figures of a black male next to a white female. A fourth loo showed only one male figure while a fifth was for disabled and baby changing.

It was thought the move was part of a nationwide switch, with KFC branches in Hampshire also understood to have had unisex toilets installed.

A female worker said: “Customers have been moaning about the changes but the company wanted to cover their backs over the transgender and gender neutral current issue and think it’s the best way forward.”

However, later it emerged the new signs had been put up in error and not as part of a deliberate policy.

A KFC spokesman said: “It looks like there was a bit of a mix up here with the toilet signs, but not to panic – they’ve now been changed.”

Changed to what?

I don't know but it looks like far from covering their backsides they might have had it pointed out that an absence of women's toilets were not going down well with customers in Stoke.

I don't but for a second that they accidentally didn't have a women's toilet.

So they didn't want a safe space for women, but there was a safe space for men. Charming. Nevermind. We can't eat at KFC anymore anyway as my DH got a bad case of food poisoning at one of them. (His skin colour actually turned grey. I didn't know humans could turn grey) We couldn't do anything as you need to prove your case by handing them your leftovers. Who would keep leftovers from a fast-food restaurant?

So men deserve privacy but women do not? Very much noted. Not that I'd buy anything from them anyway.

Back when I was at uni there was a rumor going around that someone had been served a sandwich made of rat rather than chicken, which is probably not true but does not reflect well on how they're perceived by people who eat their food. I've referred to them as Kentucky Fried Rat ever since.

Being an aged hippy really is making me smile as all the places i wouldn't be seen dead in all fall victim to the wokeness.

Discrimination against women on the basis of sex is illegal.

The set up of those cubicles worries me since they are likely in a single room away from the main restaurant.

Does anyone know if the enclosed toilets have their own basins or is there communal handwashing facilities?

We call it Unlucky Fried Kitten! Which is awful really but we have reported our local one to Environmental Health. Its interesting that they used the phrase 'covering their backs'. A complete knee jerk reaction with no understanding of the law as it stands.

Looks like 3 mixed sex and one men's. That's what pushed my stepmother, the least feminist woman I know, over the line into rebellion, seeing a pub where the options were Men and All Genders.

If ever I see toilets labeled men, and mixed I will use the men's.

How can there have been a mix up. Either they put the signs they already had back.up after the refurb or they sent off for new ones .

And if they sent off for new ones and ordered the wrong one why not put the old one back up tip the replacement arrived?

Someone in power needs to stand up to this nonsense. The whole TWAW (either agree 100% or be labelled a bigot) movement needs to end. Transwomen are transwomen. If women don't feel safe having male-bodied people in their public toilet (among other) spaces and transwoman feel unsafe using a men's loo, then a nob-specified gender toilet is the way forward. Unless they plan on spending the rest of their life in the toilets, asking them not to use the ladies' toilet is in no way infringing on their right to live as a woman or denying their existence. The more they push for this, the harder women will push back. And if it's a small minority asking for this concession, the larger trans community need to speak up and let it be known that they are not asking for this.

You could report them to the Food Standards Agency.

Just feeling frustrated here. It feels like a slow-moving tsunami, they got a lot of empathy in the beginning from people (like me) not involved in activism with the TWAW. I initially thought aww that must be hard to feel like you're in the wrong body, of course I will support you. It felt like a human rights issue and not wanting them to be seen as 2nd class citizens. But then the tide came in a bit further and they wanted the TWAW to extend to appropriating women's spaces and equality rights. And the tsunami now feels like an unstoppable force pushing everything aside and not giving a damn who gets swept out to sea, as long as they get their way. Women in sport, prisons, refuges, toilets... nope, they don't care, they want access whether it's safe for us or not.
