Anyone with spades around? Susan Evan's test case to protect children

I know there's a lot of holes that need digging at the moment.

Just wanted to wave this one in FWR's direction if you hadn't seen it/seen it but forgoten about it, and can help at all.

Susan's the previous Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Tavistock who's been brave enough to talk about her concerns, and is now bringing a test case alongside a mum, because of the lack of evidence around treatments right now.

Many spades make light work!

Thanks for the reminder!

TheBullshitGoesOn · 01/11/2019 22:28

I read about this earlier. I need to Google.

BovaryX · 02/11/2019 09:40

This is very interesting. Apparently three quarters of children presenting for transition at Tavistock are girls. This astonishing increase in the numbers of girls seeking surgery raises many questions which need to be urgently addressed.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/11/2019 10:12

The affirmation only needs to go for a start. If they spent some of the money being thrown at stonewall etc on mental health and unbiased counselling to work through the many possible causes of these children's ROGD then I suspect there would be far fewer girls wanting drugs and surgery.
The complete denial of social contagion and online grooming also needs investigating.

FannyCann · 02/11/2019 10:17

Thanks for the reminder. I sent some spades before but it looks like quite a few more are needed.

It is a very important case and lawyers across the world will be observing closely. I suspect it will be bigger than Susan Evans anticipated in the beginning so it needs lots of support.

Article from The Australian, which isn't behind a pay wall for once, and references this case.

Thank you OP. Have sent some spades but they do need more.

Twistables · 02/11/2019 11:08

Oh great! I was going to start a thread about this very important landmark case but I see it's been done

TheBullshitGoesOn · 02/11/2019 13:37

It is an important case that could help protect countless young people from making a decision they may come to regret.

I have done a small amount of digging. And may get my spade out again.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 02/11/2019 14:18

Thanks for the reminder. After digging I shared the link on facebook and twitter.

I'm surprised that the hole isn't a lot deeper by now, considering how many people with children and grandchildren are horrified and afraid for those they love once they find out what is happening.

I do wish there was more news coverage to alert people to the fact that a legal challenge is finally being brought.

TheBullshitGoesOn · 02/11/2019 19:10

I didn't have the courage to share on FB stealth so I salute you.

I agree - I also expected a deeper hole. But there doesn't seem to be as much publicity as previous ones like Maya's.

realitycalling · 02/11/2019 19:23

Given that we are no longer shopping at M & S have rediverted an amount that we'd spend on Christmas fripperies from there to this very good unmentionable cause.
I so hope that she is able to pursue this - it is such a critical case.

MrsFogi · 02/11/2019 19:29

I think that I will ask for donations of spades instead of Christmas presents this year.

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 02/11/2019 21:24

Only 7 days to go.
Have dug a bit more just now

OhHolyJesus · 02/11/2019 21:35

I do love how cryptic we all are but I was a bit slow on the uptake and just realised what you are all on about!

I'm off to the shed to dig out a spade or two.

Raindrops17 · 05/11/2019 18:42

Only 4 days to go..

GrinitchSpinach · 05/11/2019 19:02

Thanks for reminding me. Will locate my little spade now.

RolytheRhino · 05/11/2019 19:06

I have no idea what you're on about. Can someone PM me? What spade?

lionheart · 05/11/2019 19:27

Not supposed to post links to crowd-funders on here Rhino.

Spades are figurative.

RolytheRhino · 05/11/2019 19:45

Thanks for the PM @GrinitchSpinach

Much clearer now Smile

MindTheMinotaur · 08/11/2019 23:15

One day left to dig on this. The hole is getting bigger but I'm sure more is needed.

VinandVigour · 08/11/2019 23:22

I did some digging earlier today, shared equally between this and Faircop. I had, had my eye on something in M&S, so these two benefited from my boycott.

MindTheMinotaur · 09/11/2019 09:25

I returned stuff to M&S and donated that money.

highame · 03/09/2020 08:57

Just a bump in case anyone can do some last minute digging for Susan Evans

EyesOpening · 03/09/2020 09:04

Thank you, anything I would have spent in Superdrug has been diverted to various cases
