Nope, not what you might think. Well, a patriarchal culture controlling and subduing women to their detriment and making the language they need for their survival taboo, but still...

That's a saddening article - I've just been called for my first breast screening at 48. I thought it would be after 50, but I'm pleased they're so on the ball here. My mother had breast cancer in her 50s, so I guess I'm at risk. Mum recently had a recurrence - which she is recovering well from. I can't imagine women going through this when they can't talk about it.

Men can get breast cancer too - it's rare, but it does happen. I wonder if it's called breast cancer when men get it? Hmm

There so many factors in that report, none good.Sad
Breasts being sexualised, lack of access, reluctance to be treated by a male doctor but too few women doctors. There's a link on that page relating to the latter - more girls go to med school than boys in Pakistan nowadays but this makes them high status brides.

This makes me want to bang my head on the wall.

Breast cancer is associated with women's sexuality

How? How is cancer associated with a woman's sexuality just because it happens to be a body part that men can't look at without wanting to have a wank?

"Men can get breast cancer too - it's rare, but it does happen. I wonder if it's called breast cancer when men get it?"

It's called breast cancer.

Men might have considerable less breast tissue. leading to absence of perceptible breast. But enough for cancer to form in some.
