Online Military Forum Blowing up over Transgender Cyclist

Just thought I'd mention that an online Forum with over 75k UK military personnel has gone into meltdown about McKinnon winning again.

I was happily surprised that there wasn't that many nasty comments but def support for her to be competing in a transgender race not a women's race. Unfair advantage etc.

Don't think many realised this was happening.

I nailed my colours to the mast and for the first time I have commented over the last few days on lots of social media articles on this subject.

Not only am I pleasantly surprised that a number of my extended family and friends (who I've never raised the subject with) have 'liked' my comments... but I run my own business and for obvious reasons have never voiced my opinions, and today I received a really lovely message from a client who has seen one of my comments on social media and is delighted to know we share the same views.

I think this event has opened lots of peoples eyes.

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 23/10/2019 19:52

Is this a rumour related forum...

CaveMum · 23/10/2019 19:58

Would this be the arsey kind of forum or a goaty one?

genvonklinkerhoffen · 23/10/2019 20:06

I've just had a peruse of the arsey one and there's a long thread on there, remarkably similar thoughts to here but slightly less articulate... Wink

As @Exservicewoman said, relatively respectful...

Well done PP for being more open on social media. I'm scared to. I work for a charity and am very ashamed to say am keeping my head down.

My eldest is of the "Woke" generation and gave a me real taking to about my bigoted views. They couldn't see passed their woke narrow mindedness.

I feel I fucking failed as a parent. I won't give up though ;)

I guess any bloke who can’t cut the mustard for the army fitness test can now claim to be a woman and get in with less press ups? 🤷‍♀️

Exservicewoman · 23/10/2019 21:33

Ooooo @SleepyKat! Good point!

I know the military now have transgender accommodation blocks but the fitness test ..... no idea! Away to google! Very interesting point.

Looks like it might be gender neutral already.

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 23/10/2019 21:47

New tests are age and sex neutral. It's also easier in the forces to be "non conforming" to femininity. Not sure what that means.

Where are the transgender accommodation blocks @Exservicewoman? Certainly not heard of these in any unit I've worked in.

Exservicewoman · 23/10/2019 22:02

Hmmm yeah I've never seen Transgender Blocks either but I'm an ol' git but I read this article on it just recently!

But can't bloody find it now.

Any links or screenshots with identity obscured available?

Exservicewoman · 31/10/2019 20:01

Lots and lots of trans people in the forces aren't there?

Genvonklinkerhoffen · 01/11/2019 22:58

Tbh, I know of a handful in the Army and they punch well above their weight in terms of exposure. Not sure about the blue services.
