Hi haven't seen a thread about this yet so thought this may be of interest. I work in the health care field and have come across my fair share of misogynistic male practitioners however very concerning that men who are representing a trade union of all things have been openly partaking in sex discrimination. If interested you can read the report here

I started one which includes link to a piece in the Times today, but no one else has posted on it so it's low down the list.

I'll stick that link in here so that this thread gets used instead if anyone's interested.

Thankyou, Imagine being a target of sex discrimination/harassment and bullying and not being able to go to your union because they are the ones doing it. What brave women for speaking out I really hope there are some changes from this.

There’s some mighty depressing comments there.

It’s over 30 years since I last set foot in an operating theatre, but this brings to mind the awful way female patients were talked about and treated, and how that contrasted with the respect shown to men.

It’s not all Drs by any means, but there are still too many with no respect for their colleagues or patients. Arrogant arses.

I have experienced awful misogyny among doctors, not just towards female colleagues, but patients too. It was certainly still very common when I retired a few years ago. Sometimes it was like working in a time warp.
However, misogyny is still rife in many other fields: law, finance, science and engineering come to mind.

I know several medics who refuse to join the BMA because of their sexism. Indeed when one area had to choose three doctors to bump off a training scheme the BMA backed the training scheme in choosing the three pregnant doctors...
