The website says: "Storyhouse Women is a year-round programme of events at Storyhouse, an an annual festival weekend, celebrating what it means to be a woman or girl in the world today. It is a chance to explore topics that affect anyone who identifies as a woman or a girl."

That's why they're tweeting: "We'd particularly love to hear from men, trans & non-binary people & young people." GROWN UP WOMEN PISS OFF, you have no useful experiences to share and can't be interested in topics that affect women and girls.

FFS you couldn't make it up!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/10/2019 17:23

They can bugger off. What does a nouveau woman have to tell a woman about being a woman?

picklemepopcorn · 10/10/2019 17:32

Women you have nothing to say, you are boring, your lives are uninspiring.

SarahTancredi · 10/10/2019 17:33

Well we arent brave and stunning enough so what would we know...

HumberElla · 10/10/2019 17:45

They’ve been rainbowed. Can’t possibly have a women’s event that doesn’t prioritise everyone else above actual females, because that wouldn’t be nice would it ladies.

andyoldlabour · 10/10/2019 23:53

Well, at least that message is out in the open and plain for all to see.
When I see stuff like that, I tend to think that the person who organised it is a "few sandwiches short of a picnic" and that "normal" people will view it that way as well.

mimivanne · 11/10/2019 12:49

LordProf
They could tell an actual woman how it feels to be a nouveau woman, though there would be vanishingly few actual women with any interest at all.

AutumnRose1 · 11/10/2019 12:52

if you look at the replies, I sense the Tweeter is just as pissed off as others.

dolorsit · 11/10/2019 13:31

I considered attending one of their women events last year. Then I saw that a self confessed wife throttler was giving one of the talks and decided not to bother.

AnyOldPrion · 11/10/2019 13:32

That’s a bizarre message, even when the longer post is revealed. Had they said transmen, it would simply have been interesting as that would be against the prevailing narrative. But more men for a women’s event? That’s just odd.

Coyoacan · 11/10/2019 16:26

I've seen red. It gives me the rage that they pretend that something is about or for women when it is anything but.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/10/2019 16:32

And so many male bodied persons are just ready to tell us all how we’ve been doing it (Womanist) all wrong for all these years, and how they are just, well better than us. Like ‘Woman 1.0’. Upgrade.

lionheart · 11/10/2019 16:47

From the website:

'Imposter syndrome is real – don’t let it stop you attending.'

Helmetbymidnight · 11/10/2019 16:52

im very fed up on twitter today. theres this one, theres thesecondshelf, a very rare and wonderful thing- a womans bookshop - and theres the vagina museum - all desperately centring men and all suggesting that being a woman is nothing at all to do with our biology but is something in people's heads. Hmm

what is going on?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/10/2019 16:54

They are all nuts and killing themselves to appease the males?

Helmetbymidnight · 11/10/2019 17:01

twitter.com/secondshelfbks/status/1182606881027694594?s=21

its depressing. what happened to us in the last five years?

TheMarzipanDildo · 11/10/2019 17:04

Is this the Storyhouse in Chester?

TheMarzipanDildo · 11/10/2019 17:05

Oh yes just seen it is

Helmetbymidnight · 11/10/2019 17:10

its hard to believe theyre doing it with a straight face: storyhouse women we particularly want to hear from men.
surely its an elaborate parody.

LordEmsworth · 11/10/2019 17:27

It is Storyhouse in Chester, and it isn't a parody...

"The reason that we have particularly asked for input from men, transgender people and young people is because these are the groups that have been underrepresented in the past Storyhouse Women Weekend think-ins. Women have been well represented in our think-ins so far, and are always welcome."

But is a woman even a woman without a man their mansplaining her?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 11/10/2019 22:05

So, what is it that they think that men, as in regular old men who don't even claim to have a special gender, have to add to the topic of "celebrating what it means to be a woman or girl in the world today"?
