The Old Vic may have to rethink its new loo arrangements, after women are protesting against the arrangement, was the gist of the news report I just heard. It's on the news!!!

Good! Let’s keep going, so they know it won’t blow over.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 04/10/2019 07:13

Great, lying woke idiots

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/10/2019 07:27

Great! I did a small rant on twitter about the important of female public loos to me when I was miscarrying.

There's quite a few young men (& occasional woman) on twitter, posting under their own names and with photos etc, who are really keen to keep the toilets mixed sex. They are saying derogatory, misogynist things about women who disagree. I can't believe how acceptable that kind of behaviour has become. These people clearly have no qualms about future employers finding these tweets. Women are being forced to disclose trauma, only to be treated as less than human by these entitled idiots.

AnyOldPrion · 04/10/2019 09:17

The situation is ridiculous. They campaigned to provide additional toilets for women, so obviously recognised that need.

Presumably anti-women activists, seeing a sex-specific campaign quietly went into action and suggested, oh so innocently, that it would be even better to provide mixed sex toilets instead. As usual, not a single person reflected on the effect on women, so they jumped aboard that train.

Now women are (again as usual) having to protest against anti-woman changes introduced following stealth campaigning. And instead of people agreeing it was unfair for new women’s toilets to be redesignated without anyone checking whether that was acceptable, we are accused of being anti-trans.

The irony is that the Old Vic had the perfect chance to create a new system with provision for both sexes and small amount of mixed-sex provision alongside. Instead, they were easily persuaded to set aside the needs of women and this is the outcome.

So glad if Classic FM are reporting truthfully. It’s good to see that this is finally being recognised. It will be interesting to see whether there is backlash.

I would imagine that Classic FM’s audience includes a large proportion of older women who definitely do not subscribe to the woke nonsense. Good to raise their awareness of what’s going on.
It may be different at the Vic, but certainly up here in my part of Scotland, the majority of theatre goers are pensioners. And I doubt that any of us want men in our toilets.
I already boycott Dundee Rep over their unisex loos with inadequate cubicle doors and shared washbasins. I go to the theatre in Pitlochry or Perth instead.

Melroses · 04/10/2019 10:13

Thanks Truth

People go to the theatre for a pleasant night out. It would have to be a really special play to make up for inadequate toilet facilities.

OldCrone · 04/10/2019 10:41

The theatre said: “Our loos now offer ‘self-selection’ rather than being labelled male or female. This takes a descriptive, rather than prescriptive, approach following advice from surveys conducted with focus groups.

I wonder which focus groups were consulted?

“You can choose which one you want to use, rather than responding to a label placed on you, which you may not identify with.”

A biological descriptor is not the sort of label that can be identified into or out of.
