"Very import first proper research showing no loss in strength after a year #transgender"

twitter.com/sharrond62/status/1177489250155036674

She's not backing down, good on her. I also see Daley Thomson joining in too, with the voice of a man who knows full well what bullshit it is.

Yes, the Swedish report, I knew I would see it here.
Good for Sharron and Ross Tucker, I hope this gathers pace because it is vitally important.

TeenPlusTwenties · 27/09/2019 17:42

Could we nominate Sharron for BBC Sportswomen of the year for her leading role in protecting women's sport?

MsTSwift · 27/09/2019 17:45

I think I saw Sharron yesterday

zebrasdontwearbras · 27/09/2019 17:47

Good for Sharron! She's fab.

ChickenonaMug · 27/09/2019 19:08

This is a good blog by Fair Play for Women which summarises the findings and implications of this study.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 27/09/2019 20:19

I saw that dear old Rachy M is boasting about how strong they are again, all over Twitter.

But yeah sure, perfectly normal womanly strength...

It's worrying that such a statement is in anyway controversial.
Quite how the sports governing bodies have been taken in by the lies and misinformation is incredible.
I see a reference to Dr Mckinnon above. I would like to thank Rachel got their efforts in bringing this issue to the public's attention, no one has done more Rachel, thank you.

Coldwatershock · 27/09/2019 22:38

Sharron is proper stunning and brave. Yes we should campaign for everyone to nominate her for BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Looks like we will see some interesting scenes in Tokyo..

Gingerkittykat · 27/09/2019 23:14

I clicked on the link and don't see one single comment that she is a TERF, maybe they know they can't argue this one.

Coldwatershock · 28/09/2019 07:04

Keeping the discussion to biology is the key. Factual, non-political... I do worry what will happen if a whole younger generation of sports celebs don't speak out because gender has taken over.

LizzieSiddal · 28/09/2019 07:13

My worry is that TRAs won’t accept SEX as factual, so will they accept studies like this?

NotBadConsidering · 28/09/2019 07:22

I like the way Sharron says “first proper research”, as opposed to the Mickey Mouse research of certain other people Grin

SnuggyBuggy · 28/09/2019 07:24

Different sports bodies seem to have different opinions so it will be interesting to see what proper research adds to it. A lot of TRAs seem to focus on testosterone level in isolation which is a bit of a straw man in comparison to this.

HandsOffMyRights · 28/09/2019 07:52

Thank you Sharron, for bringing this research into the spotlight.
What a woman!

MangoSplit · 28/09/2019 07:56

Thank you Sharron

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 28/09/2019 08:10

I think another of my thank you cards will be winging its way to her this afternoon!

Buzz do you know her in RL?

She's incredible. I'm beyond grateful for high profile people being openly honest.

Whatisthisfuckery · 28/09/2019 09:19

GROUNDBREAKING STUDY STATES THE BLEEDING OBVIOUS SHOCKER

Go Sharron, keep defending your completely neutral, non-surprising corner.

I do love her a little bit.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 28/09/2019 09:30

Welsh oh no not at all. I just try and find a relevant address - publisher, agent, even post town if I have to, and just rely on the Royal Mail to help out! (It often works fine with famous people)

WelshMoth · 28/09/2019 09:39

Going to give that a go, Buzz.
All support it massively appreciated but high profilers are bigger targets. Want her to feel a bit of ❤️

andyoldlabour · 28/09/2019 12:16

"I saw that dear old Rachy M is boasting about how strong they are again, all over Twitter."

Indeed they are, which rather flies in the face of claims that they are so much weaker now, what with all the meds and don't forget the PTSD - poor, brave "little" Rach. Grin

SpreadsheetQueen · 28/09/2019 18:07

I would love to see Sharron get sports personality of the year, she's amazing at bringing attention to the issue of men in women's sports and refusing to back down. Genuinely brave and stunning.

MockersthefeMANist · 28/09/2019 18:16

May I recommend the mixed 4x400m relay just run at the worlds.

Very instructive in the bleeding obvious.

Aspley · 28/09/2019 18:24

@MockersthefeMANist
It does not actually matter where they place.
They are still competing in an event they have a natural unfair advantage. Some NZ women no doubt missed out on a place in the team, what price that experience?
Others are missing out on ranking places, and depending on the event (possibly not weightlifting) very possibly will miss out on state funding as they did not place high enough.
(I think it was 800m runner Lyndsey Sharpe who complained of missing out on funding when she was beaten by drugs cheats on events)
