Alice Thomson in The Times today, may be of some interest. I'll put the link in the next post. I'm personally not very keen on drag but maybe the cheerful parodying of stereotypes is no bad thing at the moment? And she's spot on re kids, uniforms etc - much the same sort of thing many of us have been saying recently.

She says some things that make sense--about that ridiculous couple who won't acknowledge their baby's sex, for instance. But I personally find drag offensive.

They may want to transition but the battle over whether teenagers should be allowed to take puberty blockers, hormones and undergo surgery is increasingly fraught. Meanwhile, gender debates about toilets and changing rooms have become dreary, depressing and divisive, the fights between feminists and trans groups debilitating.

The battle is only fraught if you think that the side that has no clinicians, and has no clinical evidence is offering beliefs of equal value to the other 'side'. It's otherwise completely irrational and a warning of future legal action amidst the harm done to the lives of young people.

Is it possible Alice's level of privilege is part of her perception that the 'debilitating gender debates' are genuinely about "toilets and changing rooms" rather than those being proxies for safeguarding, women's rights, and the status of women in law and as an oppressed class?
