Hostile Environment- policies towards women

The Home Office has a stated aim to make the UK a "hostile environment" for people without leave to remain here.

In a week where reports have shown rape convictions have fallen to a derisory level and more women than ever are being killed by partners it feels like an environment that was never fair or accommodating to women has become outright hostile.

When I was in Spain recently many of the shops and cafes I went in had signs and posters denouncing toxic machismo, and there is high profile protests there against rape legislation which allows men to go unpunished.

This wave of contempt and hostility towards women in the UK appears to be gathering pace. I'm terrified for my daughter. Can this really be a conscious policy? The results of how austerity impacted women grossly disproportionately appears to suggest it is.

How about making it a hostile environment for rapists?

How about creating a hostile environment for men who murder their partners and claim that it wasn't their fault really because she was kinky?
