James Kirkup on Ruth Hunt's peerage

blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/09/can-you-imagine-a-lobbyist-against-womens-rights-being-made-a-peer/

And as ever, my criticism is for politicians (and others) who have failed to subject Stonewall’s advocacy to the same scrutiny and critical analysis that all lobbying should face, and which is too often absent from the trans debate.
That failure means that Ruth Hunt, who ran a long and dedicated campaign to lessen women’s rights under the law, will take up a permanent seat in Parliament with barely a whisper of comment on her record. That is not how politics should work and it is not how politics works in other areas of policy.

As always, thank you, James.

And she also knows that the trans industry is a bomb waiting to go off. And she's getting herself out of the way in order to save herself.
I don't think she realises it yet, to be honest. We're so evil and nasty and cruel and thus far all the paedophiles and rapists who have crossdressing as a paraphilia are all coincidences or bad apples.
She's been shunted off after she's achieved what they needed her to, and her ego is stroked by becoming a lawmaker.
I think it's awful.

It's amazing how much confidence the right kind of education can give you and amazing how much leverage the right issue at the right time can give you. She probably feels like a real trailblazer but as Popchyk says, she's been played.

Qcng · 14/09/2019 16:56

Naive and unquestioning, she got played. Pure and simple

I disagree with this.
She knew what she was doing.
Even as a lesbian herself, she has some serious internalised misogyny going on. She was basically told over and over by lesbians what was going on with the TRA/AWA and chose to ignore us.
She made her choice out of self interest.

There's no career or political progress to be gained (at present) from being gender critical. It's like supporting the Palestinians. You get smeared and attacked for even daring.

She's a coward and a bit of a cunt.

Qcng · 14/09/2019 16:59

She's been shunted off after she's achieved what they needed her to

No, she quit. Her own decision. She got the fuck out of Dodge. Because Stonewall are getting dodgier by the day.

SirVixofVixHall · 14/09/2019 22:51

He is absolutely right than anyone else saying this would have caused uproar.
She has been strangely beyond reproach, why would that be ?
Perhaps that has also added to her self satisfied feelings of being right. I can’t get over a lesbian woman selling out other women in this way. I can only assume that the power has absolutely gone to her head, that she is vain , ambitious and greedy enough to not think beyond that. She is the lesbian version of those young women who only care about praise from men. She has no doubt been fawned over for her success at stonewall.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/09/2019 23:26

I wonder how Ruth is going to cope with the fact that in politics the opposition is allowed to tell you that they think you're wrong, and responding with threats to prevent them from speaking again is frowned upon.

Fink · 15/09/2019 14:33

Sorry if derailing the thread, but this reminded me that I was looking for a brief summary of the different UK political parties' policies on the women/ trans issue. Does anyone know of a resource which summarises the policies? Please.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 15/09/2019 15:17

Easy:
They have all handed over the rights of women to men who say they are women.
And none of them raise any concerns about safeguarding children, parental alienation or unethical drug use on children.

Sad
Lumene · 16/09/2019 22:35

@Fink

Tories - proposed self-ID, realisedit was a hand grenade of horror waiting to explode and are ‘making an announcement very soon’ - ie when hell freezes over

Lib Dem - totally la la land men are women if they say they are and you are a bigot who should be censored and thrown out of the party if you don’t 100% (state you) believe this

Greens - as for Lib Dems but with added major safeguarding blindspots

Labour - current Corbyn line and policies basically TWAW. Massive rift between feminists and right on momentum types about the whole thing. All gone a bit Life of Brian.

Fink · 17/09/2019 06:03

Thanks @Lumene, that'll be useful if there's people out canvassing soon.

RoyalCorgi · 17/09/2019 08:49

That's as fine a summary from Lumene as I've ever seen on the state of the parties as regards self-ID. One to print out and keep.

Popchyk · 17/09/2019 09:43

Ruth Hunt's new gig.

twitter.com/ruth_hunt/status/1171391195299418112

"I’m also beyond excited to be joining @ellis_cari as a co-director of Deeds and Words. We will be working together to support organisations to achieve sustainable, positive change and build inclusive cultures".

Caroline Ellis is Hunt's partner.

Sounds like they are setting up to try to undercut Stonewall.

Needmoresleep · 17/09/2019 11:17

Hee hee. I wonder what their version of equality advice will be. Presumably, TW are more special than ordinary women so should be allowed into single sex spaces without ordinary women being consulted. There is a living to be hade so why bite the hand that feeds you...so well.

Weezol · 17/09/2019 11:20

She made her choice out of self interest.

She's a self-righteous careerist who doesn't give a flying fuck about who gets crushed in her pursuit of personal gain.

Lumene · 17/09/2019 15:24

Thanks @RoyalCorgi

It would all be quite amusing if only it was a futuristic novel and not actually real.

Popchyk · 17/09/2019 16:09

Stonewall has been taking one hell of a long time to appoint a new chief executive, no?

Stonewall announced that Hunt was leaving in February.

And here we are in September with no new CEO appointed.

The improbably named Paul Twocock is still Interim Chief Executive.

I can imagine that Stonewall is struggling to get decent people to take on the job though. Everyone knows that the new chief exec will have to face down the trans wing at some point; a group which has been mightily emboldened by Hunt's ineffective 'no debate' stewardship.

But Bex Stinson and Aimee Challenor have been quietly moved out recently, so maybe there is hope that the Trustees are taking action.

LangCleg · 17/09/2019 16:17

She's a self-righteous careerist who doesn't give a flying fuck about who gets crushed in her pursuit of personal gain.

This would be my assessment.

JoyceJeffries · 17/09/2019 17:53

She’s a traitor with a very healthy bank balance.

Wurzelsnewhead · 17/09/2019 18:16

Nope not buying the she was duped scenario. I put her alongside Stephen Whittle, both are self serving with a complete disregard for their biological class. Have no time for either of them and I’d happily sign up for abolishing the House of Lords now Ruth is getting ready for another round of shitting all over women’s rights.

ChattyLion · 17/09/2019 19:18

Honestly I think the House of Lords will be who sorts this mess out, given MPs will be campaigned against unless they toe the TRA line on this and will be in fear for their seats, so i think we still need them

I am not buying Ruth Hunt as a duped useful idiot in all this though. I think she saw a massive new income stream for Stonewall (which seems like a business- what do they actually do for the community for free except lobby powerful people? Their activity seems to be a lot of paid for services like ‘training’ and ‘advice’ and certification of whoever as a pioneer or whatever shiny ‘ally’ badge they give..)

Anyway the genderist agenda gave Hunt and Stonewall’s trustees a great new opportunity to pose as fearless fighters for an oppressed class. While ignoring and actively undermining the class of women and anyone who is same-sex attracted.
They knew perfectly well what people thought of this, so it was an active choice to press on while saying #nodebate

Weezol · 17/09/2019 21:50

But Bex Stinson and Aimee Challenor have been quietly moved out recently, so maybe there is hope that the Trustees are taking action

I may have missed this news, if so, aplogies, but heir names not being on the Stonewall website doesn't necessarily mean they've left does it?

Popchyk · 17/09/2019 22:11

They both say that they've left Stonewall on Linkedin.

Stinson in April. Stonewall were recruiting a new Head of Trans Inclusion in June. twitter.com/stonewalluk/status/1138459125367660547 No news on any appointment as far as I am aware.

Challenor left in July.

Neither of them would have left voluntarily. Stinson still doesn't have a job, unless having a YouTube channel with 15 subscribers counts as a job these days.

Weezol · 17/09/2019 23:37

Thank you - I took an internet break around then and missed all that!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/09/2019 23:48

It's all so incestuous and backpatting in the charity sector that you more you look the more sordid and nepotistic it all seems. Just a bunch of people who've taken over something that's meant to exist for the public good who're now squatting there like a bunch of increasingly wealthy toads, totally ignoring the groups they're meant to be helping.

Popchyk · 17/09/2019 23:51

Speaking of which...

Ruth Hunt also recently appointed as a director to a new organisation called Engage Britain. With people like John Birt and Trevor Phillips. Hasn't got up and running yet.

Supposedly to solve things that citizens are concerned about. Their focus is on health, poverty, immigration, environment, trade, terrorism, jobs, housing, crime, education.

Question is. What experience does Ruth Hunt have in even just one of those areas?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/09/2019 23:53

Maybe she has some experience on concealing or handwaving away crime if the group paying her bills is responsible for it? What did she have to say about Karen White?
