This has just been shared with me; a recently started, very sad account of the life of a child of a transitioner.

I know we have had a few people ask if anyone else has had such experiences here.

(Sorry if I don't come back to comment much I'm finding it hard to mn at the moment.)

This kind of story needs more publicity.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 29/08/2019 18:22

I’ve seen that too. Beautifully written and a point of view that needs to be heard about much more.

TinselAngel · 29/08/2019 18:56

Great to see this ✊

NeurotrashWarrior · 29/08/2019 18:59

I was thinking of you when I posted tinsel.

I read on Twitter recently that Fox and Owl are making a programme for the BBC on children of transitioners although I doubt they will feature cases like those in the link.

Thingybob · 29/08/2019 20:36

Correction its actually for CBBC

nauticant · 29/08/2019 20:43

You've got to get them young. The Jesuits will testify to that.

Iminthewrongstory · 29/08/2019 21:07

This blog is good. There is so much focus on the transitioner, that it's easy to forget the family - who have tightly prescribed roles that they are 'meant' to play. I thought this was an important sentence: 'Lots of people’s feelings rest on you suppressing yours.'

EmpressLesbianInChair · 30/08/2019 06:24

There’s a new post up.

THIS is proper Brave and Stunning.

SnuggyBuggy · 30/08/2019 06:30

I wish these stories got more publicity too but I doubt they will as its the wrong narrative.

NeurotrashWarrior · 30/08/2019 06:46

I saw that thingy. Yet more coercive abuse by the bbc.

Yes this is brave and stunning.

This latest post is gut wrenching. And spot on.

So glad the make more noise event and transwidows's stories are also mentioned.

I'll be sending this to the bbc for their 'research.'

Wow that is raw and painful and beautifully written.

I keep thinking about that short film that the BBC made about Charlotte and how they were so happy after transitioning and the expressions on the kids and the wife's faces just not matching the 'oh it's all wonderful now' story they had been manipulated into telling.

The voicelessness is clear

NeurotrashWarrior · 30/08/2019 08:29

orchid that's exactly the film I've had in mind when reading this.

Total gaslighting.

I bet those kids are on the cbbc prog.

Very glad to see this.

So many more people than the transitioner themselves are affected by transition and we have done an awful job so far in finding them and listening to them.

Datun · 30/08/2019 08:38

I keep thinking about that short film that the BBC made about Charlotte and how they were so happy after transitioning and the expressions on the kids and the wife's faces just not matching the 'oh it's all wonderful now' story they had been manipulated into telling.

I wonder if they would assert the same now though. An interesting take would be to revisit in a few years.

As these narratives start to see the light of day, the manipulation loses its grip. Knowing other people are struggling or have struggled must surely help others being gaslighted. Especially as, like a lot of these things, there appears to be a 'script'.

Such a heartfelt, wonderfully written blog.

Yes, that was my first thought too.

TinselAngel · 30/08/2019 08:57

That new post is wonderful.

Here is the article she quotes

Does anyone remember the detail on the children of transitioners documentary the BBC is making? The name of the production company or the call for contributors? I've done a search but can't find it. Thank you.

Fox Fisher is doing it

TinselAngel · 30/08/2019 10:08

Well I think we can all guess the angle it's going to take, judging by that.

HandsOffMyRights · 30/08/2019 10:15

Refreshing to read such a candid post.

In most of the documentaries that have been carefully manipulated by the BBC we are led to believe that the wives and children are cock a hoop about transitions.

We know the Trans Widows thread paints a very different picture.
