They are MN mod’ing rules. We did revolt at the time. It was a compromise that MN made. Terms we (GC) found unacceptable were also banned ie terf, cis, and other (TRA) terms were banned TIM, etc

Deadnaming and correctly sexing are verboten and (if reported - MN don’t generally read threads) will get your post deleted. 3 deletions in a short period of time will get you perma banned.

We're not forced to use incorrect pronouns, we're barred from using correct ones if they're not an individual's preference. It's awkward, and difficult for some (in particular posters with ASD conditions) but isn't too bad a compromise imo. 'Context is key' - you won't get deleted for referring to eg Karen White as 'he'.

Oh there were at least 700. There was not an empty seat in the whole of the QEII conference centre testing

So it's definitely not lack of interest in fairness in sport that was the problem!

As an aside, £25 would be ambitious for a really great speaker. I always did wonder who was going to cough that up for an obscure academic/cyclist.

The Sharron Davies/FPFW/Women’s Place one was under a tenner IIRC. And it was packed. About 700 women (and a handful of men). It’s almost as if one side of this debate translates to real life action or something, eh? And one side...really doesn’t.

I'm not at all surprised that talk was cancelled! I was wondering at the time who the target audience was meant to be. TRAs like to talk a good game about supporting each other, but how many of them were really going to pay 25 quid for this?
