Trudeau supports Pride Parade's decision to ban UBC, library

Apparently recent polling shows his vote is down in Quebec. How the hell can a he talk like this.
In January, the library's downtown branch allowed a radical feminist blogger, Meghan Murphy, to speak.

At Murphy's event, five speakers asserted that transgender women were not women and should not be treated as women, according to parade organizers.

At the parade, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau weighed in on the society's decision.

"The pride community has the right to invite and include organizations that it feels are allies. I know that the goal of including everyone is really important, but it's also really important to take a strong stance against intolerance," he said.

The society said both institutions would be allowed to march again in the future if they change their room-booking policies.

Pride, like Stonewall, are just not for women anymore, it seems.

They only care about men's rights - men's right to display ther sexual fetishes, men's rights to become women.

They've picked their side.

Trudeau - well, this happened on his watch. I don't think history will look back kindly at this - Yaniv (!) for example. Shame, because I thought he was quite a good bloke. DH and I used to joke that he was "Ace" Rimmer (lol). Red Dwarf, for those not familiar.

Popchyk · 08/08/2019 18:11

So much for inclusion, eh?

Suddenly not only okay to exclude people, but morally righteous to do so.

Hypocrite that he is.

Goosefoot · 08/08/2019 18:15

He's such a dweeb.

It's very typical of him, he has no sense of limits. There is his view of Canadian values, and what is outside of that little bubble is apparently not Canadian.

You can see it in the way he's pursued other things as well, a good example is the student work program. This is federal funds that go to all kinds of organisations that hire a student for the summer. For some reason they suddenly put in the requirements that the organisation could not be one that lobbied or advocated for pro-life causes. So, for example, a Catholic Church that wanted to hire a student to give tours of a historic building.

They back-pedalled on that one fairly quickly but it's a good example of his attitude, even working perfectly legally through the proper channels is not ok in his view, if he thinks you have the wrong idea. Same thing here, it doesn't matter that the people at the meeting have a right to their opinions, to express them, or that the library was obligated legally and ethically to provide space to the public.

One thing is for sure, he has nothing of the nuance and intelligence you see in his father's writing.

GCAcademic · 08/08/2019 20:19

Trudeau is an excellent example of why one should never trust a man who proclaims himself to be a feminist.

littlbrowndog · 08/08/2019 20:28

Yeah he is no feminist. Mind you he’s a guy so could never be one

He is a CF pretending

OvaHere · 08/08/2019 20:32

He is the epitome of 'male feminist'. I wouldn't be surprised if he's got a history not unlike Clymer.

XXcstatic · 08/08/2019 20:43

you see in his father's writing

If you believe he is Trudeau's son....

(I do, really, but the conspiracy theory is worth googling for entertainment value)

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 08/08/2019 22:03

He’s a princeling isn’t he? Basically coronated as well as elected, mired in privilege and out of touch as they come.....

Goosefoot · 09/08/2019 01:04

OMG I had no idea that was a thing.

My googling suggests that the theory was he is really Castro's son!

My comment stands though, he's not got his dad's brain either way.

Ornery · 09/08/2019 01:49

I’m so disappointed in him, honestly. On this and his utter failure to grasp environmental issues. And deal properly with the continued utter failure to provide drinkable water to many communities.
I should have known, but even my Uber Green friends were hopeful.

Ornery · 09/08/2019 01:53

Really goose? I hadn’t looked into the program and have so far been impressed with it (two out of three kids are currently on two very different summer jobs paid through this scheme). Gah. I can’t even claim that as a win now.

Yeh, the summer student program has been around for years, they added this requirement for last summer's jobs. There was a huge outcry, and they quickly back-peddled and said they only meant they would not fund positions where the people would be directly working in some sort of pro-life capacity.
What was particularly noticeable was that it wasn't really people who were inclined to be pro-life themselves that took them to task, most people could see what the problem was, you can't restrict people from working through appropriate legal channels to say what they think about public policy. But they never really seemed to get that.
It's really a continuation of the Harper approach of defunding NGOs and other groups that are working in areas that they don't like.

2BthatUnnoticed · 09/08/2019 03:51

Wow, can’t believe it! Even with JY demonstrating how women are left vulnerable by ignoring our reality as a sex class,

zebrasdontwearbras · 09/08/2019 07:30

Ornery, for real? Canadian govt are all about putting people's bloody preferred pronouns & gender change into law - while there are people without drinking water? ffs.

Fidel Csstro thing hilarious though - the similarity is uncanny. Esp the nose.

zebrasdontwearbras · 09/08/2019 07:37

Side note - the funnest thing about Fidel Castro was that the US really did try to do away with him with a box of exploding cigars, and other amusing ways Grin
