Casualty- anyone watching?

Just tuned in and part of story line is about a TW and their wife - TW almost drowns, wife saves them and then gets all GC when they arrive in casualty.

Fascinated to see how this pans out particularly considering some of the clear arguments that the wife outlined. Guessing as it's the BBC it will end up being totally woke

GiggleMcDimples agree - only one woman in this house gets to call herself mother. And that's the one that carried the dc for none months before spitting them out of her actual vagina. (Yes I know adoptive mothers etc).

*nine months Wink

My dm loves this series and has watched it since the start, so this episode give me a chance to tell her everything about JY, the self I’d issues especially concerns about women’s refuges and she is absolutely horrified so Casualty has trans peaked my 84 year old mother!

AlwaysComingHome · 04/08/2019 01:31

By coincidence Yaniv has ousted videos of theirself in a public pool on Twitter the same day; with little girls in the background, natch.

The contrast between the BBC’s propaganda and the grim reality is stark.

Gingerkittykat · 04/08/2019 01:36

I hope JY gets banned from the pool for that little stunt, most pools have strict rules about the use of phones to preserve privacy.

CoolCarrie · 04/08/2019 01:46

FFS that video, I hope the “ judge” in the waxing case gets to see this fucking outrage! He clearly is deranged and sick, and this proves it beyond all doubt.

WifeOfTiresias · 04/08/2019 02:16

@CheckingOutTheQuantocks

Quite coincidentally, I posted about this on the transwidows thread earlier - I was also tempted to jump into the TV and give all the actors a slap!

Gingerkittykat · 04/08/2019 03:00

I just watched the episode (insomnia!)

Nice ending, crazy feminazi sees sense and by the end of the show and agrees to get back together with her former husband, accept them as a woman and mother to their baby. She looked miserable, but the man was happy so all is well.

@SeaWitchly Nice observation, I bet there would be universal understanding for a man who wanted to leave his wife who decided to become a man.

@FannyCann

They release the slots for Lido booking a week in advance. If you are after a particular day then go online the week before to book it. It gets booked up quite quickly. It’s worth a trip though. It’s absolutely fantastic and in the middle of a park

FannyCann · 04/08/2019 09:16

Gosh thank you Roxy this will require serious planning to coordinate diary and weather forecasts! Spontaneity not an option.

I'm used to a smaller, more informal facility which sadly I no longer live near. Chagford pool - it's not far off the A30 if anyone fancies breaking the holiday journey down to Cornwall.

The TW was quite well written in the way that absolutely everything came back to TW's own issues.

rosy71 · 04/08/2019 09:53

I thought the tw had very long hair considering they'd only decided to transition a few months earlier.

placemats · 04/08/2019 11:20

Men can have long hair, it doesn't make them women though. Think Samson with his long locks and great strength.

I agree this was poor writing and totally unsatisfactory. If Jules wife had not been injured then there wouldn't have been a story. She had to have a physical injury in order to come to terms with her husband's transition. It smacks somewhat of corrective domestic violence. The BBC ought to be ashamed of this.

Presumably George, the son, was 'assigned' male at birth. Possibly back in a few years time to be presented as Georgina?

placemats · 04/08/2019 11:22

Plus let's not forget:

Gorgeous locks abound.

AGnu · 04/08/2019 14:39

TW: "You're not letting me see my baby so I'm going to delay my transition for a few years but will still do it when I decide to do it & when our child is old enough to join in with guilt-tripping you into letting me see him. I'll set the schedule for this & you'll just have to go along with it because I've been super reasonable in waiting a few years. It's what any mother would do."

Mother: "I can see that you're a loving parent & our child having 2 loving parents is more important than my hurt. I'll pretend you're something you're not for the sake of the child even though it will continue to hurt me."

FaFoutis · 04/08/2019 14:46

Looking on the positive side I think casting (or whoever supplies the babies) didn't approve of the stupid storyline. The massive baby must have been a protest. That baby was bigger than the TW.

rosy71 · 04/08/2019 15:48

Of course men can have long hair. It was just that the TW had only decided to do stereotypically female things a few months previously. I imagined him with stereotypically male short hair before.

Tbh, the TW made me think of an 80s pop singer rather than a woman.

DickKerrLadies · 06/08/2019 10:20

I caught up with this last night.

For a program on the BBC, it was almost 'balanced'. Well I say balanced, because it was obviously a storyline to complement that about Marty coming out to his parents, but you know, it's the BBC.

I did laugh out loud at the line "Because I am entitled" because I've spent so much time on AIBU that the meaning of the word entitled has altered for me.
