Article about the new guideline for trans inmates.

*These include an individual’s offending history, anatomy including physical strength and genitalia, sexual behaviour and relationships, past behaviour in custody and evidence of a threat towards others.

Boards must also taken into account the personal vulnerabilities of a transgender prisoner including their mental health, vulnerability if they are in a male prison, risk of suicide and history of being attacked or bullied, it adds.*

Five transmen in mens prisons. Not reading anything about their safety.

I realise that if a prisoner is truly gender dysphoric, they may need special care, but it would be sensible to provide that care in a way that didn’t explicitly advantage them, thus making it attractive to others.

Reading this, it struck me afresh just how damaging the whole idea that people “are trans” is.

I hope eventually we will return to the medical model where it is fully recognised that these are people with an MH condition, who need MH help, not special people who need extra special treatment provided by the whole of society.

Five transmen in mens prisons

Are you sure about that?
I heard an expert on the radio say there were no transmen in men's prisons, that they were all in the women's and there were a total of about 25. The Times article reads as though it's 20, if my maths is right/their figures are right.
The "5" could be men who identify as non-binary or other, rather than transmen?

Anyway, the idea for a dedicated officer is a very good idea however, if a prison hires someone with a TRA type of thinking, it'd be bad bc all the transwomen will just all be moved to the nearest women's prison regardless of their crime history.

Looks like it's a move to proper risk assessment and a balanced one too. If it goes to plan and the officers are sensible people.

The new government needs to clamp down on this crap, it is just people, men I assume, out to cause trouble. Stop pandering to them
