I'd love to create some gender critical artwork to get out my feelings about all of this plus point of the many holes and hypocrisies in the ideology but:
- I'm scared of the backlash if I posted it online but if I didn't post it online nobody would see it so it wouldn't help challenge the ideology in any way;
- I'm scared it would affect my career;
- I'm scared it could even be classed as a hate crime!
It reminds me of how totalitarian regimes in the past used to force artists to create propaganda art to make their regime seem totally cool and great to outsiders when it was the opposite.
It's unbelievable how we have to hide these days just for daring to say out loud that a woman is an adult human female. What insane times we are living in, I wake up daily and often can't believe what has happened to society. I often think 'how will the history books describe this era?' and imagine they will talk about it being a time of mass gaslighting which lead to society sleep walking into a chaotic, highly misogynistic, dangerous totalitarian society (unless collectively we succeed in challenging it and see the ideology fall. I really really really hope this is what happens instead and disaster is averted).
