Women's Voices Matter are doing a talk, it looks good, is anyone thinking of going?

www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/women-girls-our-rights-their-future-tickets-64133356596

Helen Watts, Jeni Harvey, Dr Clara Greed (expert on toilets apparently) and Bo Novak (a feminist speaker) are speaking.

I'm not that close to Glastonbury but thinking about it...

Excellent, an event within 90 mins drive I'll be there with bells on. There's tea and cake too, women are so civilised. Grin

barelove · 09/07/2019 17:28

Yes! Something for the south west massif!

TurboTeddy · 09/07/2019 17:31

barelove my lovely would you like to car share?

barelove · 09/07/2019 17:35

Lets! I'll PM you. Smile

Genfree · 09/07/2019 21:25

It should be a really good event. Have heard one or two of them speak already and it will be a very informed crowd

Vixfinn · 09/07/2019 21:35

Really looking forward to this, public feministing has been a bit short on the ground in the Southwest since the Bath event. Hopefully see some of you there!

SirVixofVixHall · 09/07/2019 21:36

I would love to go to that but I am working then. It is a good line up of speakers.

TurboTeddy · 09/07/2019 22:07

Vixfinn see you there.

Vixfinn · 09/07/2019 22:15

Absolutely 😊

pombearlapelbadge · 10/07/2019 00:01

Nc for this but long time lurker and occasional poster hoping to attend in Fri. Those attending may I pm?

barelove · 10/07/2019 00:14

TurboTeddy · 10/07/2019 00:15

pombearlapelbadge
Me to.

borntobequiet · 10/07/2019 05:16

I’m thinking of going. I may PM one/some of you kind people if I can make it.

ScrumpyBetty · 10/07/2019 13:10

I just jumped on to the feminism boards to see of anyone had started a thread about this. I'm so pleased that other mumsnetters are going, I've got a ticket and would love to meet up with anyone who is going!

TurboTeddy · 10/07/2019 13:21

ScrumpyBetty
Love the username. I'll be there with another Mnetter. I've just seen on the thread for tonight's event in London that someone suggested carrying a packet of Pom Bears to identify yourself as a Mnetter Smile Alternatively we could pm each other when the venue is released and arrange to meet at the doors.

barelove · 10/07/2019 13:42

I'll be sporting a Pom bear lapel badge, lovingly hand crafted from the packet I've just scoffed.

Looking forward to an interesting evening with friends.

ScrumpyBetty · 10/07/2019 14:01

Ha that's brilliant! Okay I'll loiter around the venue holding a packet of Pom bears and will hope to see some of you. I don't know anyone who is GC in real life and haven't really dared have the courage to talk to anyone about it all, so it will be a pleasure to be around other GC people on Friday evening.
Will they let us know the venue on the day?

TurboTeddy · 10/07/2019 16:07

barelove
That's genius.

TurboTeddy · 10/07/2019 16:11

Email confirmation says they will send an email with venue details by lunchtime on Friday. Don't forget to bring ID, it's a requirement for entry to the event.

pombearlapelbadge · 10/07/2019 20:19

ahem barelove 😁
My pms may not have worked but ticket booked, lapel badge at the ready, see you there.

IamEarthymama · 10/07/2019 22:59

Can I say that this will be a brilliant event in (imo) the best town in the UK?
Do go if you can, I am so sad not to be there but family commitments prevent me from travelling.

You will have a great time, you will have to chance to eat in some fab cafes, you will meet brilliant activists!
Wishing the organisers all the best, wish I could be there with you xx

BahHumbygge · 11/07/2019 15:18

(Reverted to an old username with more GC posting history)

I'm going and so excited about this as it's very local to me. Anyone who wants to meet up, please feel free to PM me. I'll also drop a few PMs to posters who are going. I went to the Bristol WP meeting in feb '18 and found it so energising meeting with so many likeminded women. Also, if there's any local feminist groups (or individuals) in central Somerset, drop me a message.

barelove · 11/07/2019 16:00

Hi pombearlapelbadge

Got one message from you yesterday at 09.49 which I responded to at 10.08. My internet can be a bit iffy, so soz if I you pm'd again and I didn't get it.

I'm sure we'll all spot each other a mile off by our Pom bear paraphernalia. I had to buy a multi pack just to get one wrapper. I really shouldn't buy multi packs. I'll be the one who's eaten so many I now look like one Bear

ScrumpyBetty · 11/07/2019 16:36

I've been following the WPUK fairplayforwomen event on Twitter and have been really impressed with the turn out. I'm sure Friday's meeting won't be on the same scale but I do look forward to it and to meeting you all - fellow mumsnetting pombear crew!!

Steppedonalego · 11/07/2019 18:20

I'm a long time lurker and this is my first post on the feminist board mainly because when Ive thought of what to say someone has said it already and much more articulately!! Ive been hoping for a local event for ages and this looks brilliant.
I have a ticket and all being well will be attending complete with the delicious bear shaped snacks.
