I am so angry and sad about this. I blame the whole hostile environment being created for lesbians in this country. And prominent lesbians like Hunt and Diva Linda who have sold them out for money

"Because she smokes they won’t take her cigarettes off her because they say they will get lesbian germs."

Is it the 80s again?

I'm not convinced this was done because she was a lesbian. The attackers were 2 of her friends, the report came from her sister, I find it hard to believe the 'friends' would not smoke her cigerette.... so many things.
It was awful, sure, but hmmm....
Have a look at another misleading headline from last week
i.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/113941862/homophobic-attack-on-gay-couple-followed-by-road-rage-assault-in-queenstown
I've read it twice, carefully, and it was a gay guy meeting another gay couple thru Grindr, he got drunk, there was a fight before he left and road raged another couple. The only homophobic words he used were "fuck off you fa**ots".

Doesn't mean either of the attacks were to do with sexuality.
It all gets a bit witch-hunt imo.

I thought that it was just words to throw at her. And that the fight would have happened anyway - they owed her money I think?

SomeDyke · 09/07/2019 13:08

"Doesn't mean either of the attacks were to do with sexuality."
Except the words used specifically were. If a lesbian had been attacked by other lesbians for various reasons, I don't think they would use homophobic insults whilst thumping her. The fact that straight women were alleged to use such insults is the homophobia, not necessarily the reason for the attack per se.

Just words shows you are totally missing the point, it is what comes out when normal restraints are off that shows what some people really think.

Try telling a black person who was beaten up whilst someone called then a black bastard, say, that it was 'just' words, and not racism.................

I know what you are saying but it doesn't mean it was a homophobic attack - I think it was an attack for other reasons and they used any slurs they could think of to differentiate her from them during the attack. It is what people do, it's horrible, but the attack wasn't motivated by her being a lesbian.
