I know it's some high profile transactivist but I cannot remember which one!

I’d be very careful of making guesses here. This is libellous if you don’t have the receipts. We know lots of the high profile ones monitor Mumsnet for any mention of their names!

Juno Dawson.

But it was more like ‘being gay is a consolation prize for not being a woman’

I’ll find the actual quote.

DuMondeB · 01/07/2019 11:13

The actual Attitude article has been deleted, but here is the statement attempt to explain it: attitude.co.uk/article/statements-in-response-to-juno-dawson-story-on-gay-and-trans-identification-1/14687/

And here is a response from a gay writer:
www.independent.co.uk/voices/juno-dawson-attitude-magazine-interview-transgender-gay-man-lgbt-trans-woman-a7752701.html

The datalounge (gay online forum, not always safe for work) threads on Juno Dawson had me cackling.

VickyEadie · 01/07/2019 11:13

Anyone who believes that is seriously deluding themselves. All the gay men I've ever known are very happy being men and attracted only to men.

NoSquirrels · 01/07/2019 11:19

It’s an extremely sorry-not-sorry response, isn’t it? Interesting from both Attitude and Juno as neither deny the quote was accurate.

drspouse · 01/07/2019 11:26

Thanks, I wasn't intending to say anything without actual evidence (this is more of a "something to reply on social media" than a "go to the press" type quote).

Just looked at that attitude article and for me this paragraph is more worrying than the comment about gay men.

Cor Blimey ThingyBob, that reads to me that Dawson’s teacher exposed himself to Dawson when Dawson was 8 years old, and Dawson is recounting it as a good memory Confused

NoSquirrels · 01/07/2019 12:55

That article isn’t written by Juno Dawson - it’s written as a response to the Attitude article by a different gay writer. So none of that anecdote is Juno Dawson’s words. Just think best to be clear about that!
(It is a rather provocative opening though as a way to prove a ping about innate sexuality).

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 01/07/2019 13:06

Oh, right. It still makes me pretty Sad for that 8 year old boy, even if they almost certainly won’t thank me for it

Thingybob · 01/07/2019 15:28

Thank you for pointing that out Nosquirells. I didn't get much further than the opening paragraph before I felt sick and closed the page.
