Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What a ninny he seems, on the basis of what looks like 48 hours of continuous arguing on Twitter with very little to show for it. One good thing, though - David Aaronovitch and David Baddiel both took him to task.

It all seemed to start with Janice Turner taking exception to the BBC talking about 'anyone with a vagina' needing to go for smear tests. Mr Clare is very free with the word and with the block function. He's produced that op ed piece from Nature that says sex is a spectrum and he's very pleased with himself about it. Pleased with himself, full stop, actually. Patronising, passive aggressive, outright rude when all else fails.

Now he's saying Got 'gender critical feminists' in my mentions saying they 'can't wait' til my 2 year old daughter is sexually assaulted. Just in case you were wondering what kind of feminism transphobes practise. Not a scintilla of evidence has been produced to back this up.

One to avoid.

Cripes he’s loving the attention weirdo for sure

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/06/2019 23:34

Yes, I saw that too Smile. Aaronvitch really went for it!

AnotherLass · 30/06/2019 23:34

Meh. You got me excited there for a minute - I thought that David Baddiel had publicly come out as gender critical. He hasn't. His comments were very subtle.

(He clearly IS gender critical. But that isn't at all the same).

Popchyk · 30/06/2019 23:35

Aaronovitch skewered him very neatly on the Janice Turner thread. Tim Clare revealed himself to be a misogynist pretty quickly.

It wouldn't have escalated the way it did after that if it were not for Tim Clare feeling humiliated by another man. It's Clare's own feelings of inadequacy and frustration when he came up against someone with a much sharper mind than his own.

He was humiliated by another man in front of women, therefore it is the fault of women.

Classic displaced anger.

Eaudear · 30/06/2019 23:35

He has blocked 286 people who have been 'harassing' him so all that will be left is fellow beardy misogynsists.

Tim, honey, a bit of old school advice:

If one person is an Arsehole, then they are probably an arsehole.

If everyone is an arsehole, then it's you who is the arsehole.

GlorianaCervixia · 30/06/2019 23:35

Notice his response to David Baddiel was to acknowledge he might be wrong but that he’s trying to be kind. His response to women challenging him is to go on a lengthy twitter tantrum screaming about terfs, sock puppets and punching women.

This man’s mysogyny is so vast it can be seen from space.

Popchyk · 30/06/2019 23:42

Yeah, I thought it was interesting how diffident and careful his language is when he is addressing men whose social status is higher than his. Polite and restrained.

And then look at how he addresses women. Sneering and disrespectful. And a distinct lack of control.

Harrop does exactly the same thing.

DramaRamaLlama · 01/07/2019 07:11

Yes the ranting at women whilst being deferential to men...so misogynistic!

What did Badiel say to him?!

GlorianaCervixia · 01/07/2019 07:26

Baddiel wrote “what an amazing chat this is” in response to Tim Clair defending the BBC’s “anyone with a cervix” campaign.

Clair then did the full genuflect with “I'm trying to be kind, David. It's ok if you think I'm oblivious or thick. You might very well be right. I get plenty of things wrong.”

Funny how woke blokes claim there’s no such thing as a sex binary and yet still manage to identify one half of the binary for their abuse. Quite a talent.

DramaRamaLlama · 01/07/2019 07:31

Urgh what a dick!

So many issues with the "anyone with a cervix campaign". Presumably we're still excluding girls from the requirement to have a smear.

And actually some women who have had their cervix removed still require a smear (and are higher risk hence having it removed).

If only there was a word that would describe those people. So irritating that there isn't Hmm

KatvonHostileExtremist · 01/07/2019 07:47

Wow, he's a real charmer. Clearly doesn't like women very much at all.

"Kitten kickers" lol

He donated 296 quid to mermaids for every woman he blocked (although he claimed most of them where fake). He'll "have to tighten his belt next month", but I'm sure mermaids will need his cash to help pay for their massive data protection breach.

He's really not balanced at all. He should have his Twitter taken away bless him.

HandsOffMyRights · 01/07/2019 07:59

Ah the old "Punch a Nazi, punch a woman" mantra. Used by so many to square violence towards women. As modelled by the delightful Emily G.

pachyderm · 01/07/2019 08:02

"Anyone who has a cervix" just makes me think of that Cilla Black song.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 01/07/2019 08:14

What a vile man he is. He’s actually making a joke of women getting punched, because it’s ok if we’re bigots, according to this beardy woke misogynistic little prick.

PurpleCrowbar · 01/07/2019 08:43

Damn, I've cost him a quid for the fishy types.

Never mind, I suspect they're going to need it for fines & legal advice fairly soon.

Also, what a plonker. When you're getting ratioed like that, you either delete your dumb tweet, or you say 'ok maybe I overreacted, but this read like a threat to me'.

You don't just sit there getting called out by 100s of people & furiously stabbing at the block button! Grin

I don't think he really gets twitter.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 01/07/2019 08:51

I don’t think he gets adulthood. What a total moron.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2019 10:12

He blocked me and I didn't even reply to him, just to one of his male chums!

ZebrasAreBras · 01/07/2019 10:14

I just checked out Tim's own website. There's a deleted video on there called "Gay day/Queer Night" - so perhaps he has not always been quite so woke as he is now.

He's produced that op ed piece from Nature that says sex is a spectrum and he's very pleased with himself about it.

Could someone point me to this please? The Nature piece I mean.

VickyEadie · 01/07/2019 11:17

nauticant I'm one of the many women he blocked merely for asking to see the 'offending' tweet. There was no abuse or hostility whatever in my request - he simply blocked me, as he did many others (most of whom, like me, said we abhorred and would report any such tweets).

It wasn't hard to conclude that he was lying through his teeth.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2019 11:24

www.nature.com/news/sex-redefined-1.16943#/spectrum

DrTricia Frasman took it apart on Twitter a year ago. I'm sure there are other critiques.

OP posts:
nauticant · 01/07/2019 11:30

I think people responding to him on twitter are mistaken about the original tweet with the "can't wait" comment. It would appear to be this one:

twitter.com/NicCrossley/status/1145311892078047232

It doesn't contain what Tim Clare said it contained which is why he knew he couldn't point to it to justify his untrue and nasty accusation. Also, it changes nothing about him showing everyone who he really is.

waterlego · 01/07/2019 11:33

I don’t know if there’s been a further update, but the screenshot he shared of his donation to Mermaids was the first stage of the online donation process, ie, it wasn’t evidence that he has actually completed a donation- just that he had got as far as the first page. 😆
