Girlguiding Scotland

Girlguiding Scotland is now in direct conflict with the Scottish Government on reform to GRA proposals. While the Scots are about to consult again, this time with input from Women’s groups and a full equality impact assessment, before it considers changing the law to permit self ID, Girlguiding is still forging ahead with a policy of self identification for children and adults. GG has never published an EIA or even confirmed that one has been conducted.

If you have daughters in Girlguiding Scotland, please write to your commissioner and GGHQ Scotland.

I have to go out v soon so apologies for the rushed thread. I did a post on twitter with more detail: twitter.com/mshelenwatts/status/1145292245282824197?s=21

GG in Scotland at least needs to make sure it's guidance follows the forthcoming revised guidance for schools to ensure that girls aren't excluded from female only services.

I saw your thread in this on Twitter - hopefully this along with the scouts (very slightly) changing their guidance means that the Guides might consider reconsidering their position....

SarahTancredi · 01/07/2019 07:19

Their lack of response is very telling.

Thank.you for all.you have done/are doing.

Gg need more people like you. It's such a shame they cant appreciate someone who looks out for the very people they were set off for.

What has happened to the Girl Guides is yet another example of institutional capture. I would never send my DDs to GG until they have start prioritising girls again. They've clearly lost their way, have lost sight of their original purpose and have been taken over by woke morons. They don't give a stuff about safeguarding and looking after girls. I would never entrust my DDs to their care. I will be writing in. Thanks for all you have done Helen Flowers

It'll be interesting, to say the least, how these organisations turn themselves round again. Once you've got yourself into the position GGUK is in, how can you get out of it with any grace? Not that extricating themselves gracefully should be their major concern, but it probably will be, since they seem to be one of the many organisations that are now about prioritising their own existence and have forgotten their initial purpose.

Not quite sure how you would go about asking people to leave the organisation. Both kids and volunteers.

And if there is an incident their insurers will wrangle out of coughing up.

They have to operate now in full knowledge they are breaking the law.

I know, they're fucked by their own stupidity, and virtue signalling when there was absolutely no need for it. The rush to prove you're more inclusive and progressive than everyone else, throwing safeguarding to the wind in the process.

To put it simply they won't.

They didn't seem to have much difficulty with asking AgnesBadenPowell to leave.

SarahTancredi · 01/07/2019 17:20

They didnt have an issue throwing out the transmen either however to start with.

However we know actual women and transmen aren't the ones being aggressive and threatening to sueHmm

No doubt they will suddenly remember women exist in order to blame them when it goes wrong

Thanks for the kind words Thanks

The Scottish Government announcement does give GG in Scotland at least an opportunity to back down gracefully. They can't not have a policy but they could say "we're listening and will review our own policies in light of the Scot Gov school guidance and equality impact assessment". No one could argue with that stance and they can conveniently pin the responsibility on external pressures, thus preserving woke credentials.

We shall see.

I have complained again and referred Girlguiding Scotland to the OSCR (Scottish equivalent of Charity Commission) so let's see what happens. More plans in the pipeline too.
