My 2nd thread today -unheard of! (I mostly lurk. New username.)

Anyone know about Pride in STEM? It seems they'll be involved in a workplace I'm associated with and I want to know if they're a positive organisation doing good stuff, or if they're more like the orgs pushing queer theory into public life.

Not a huge amount of info on their website, but I was unimpressed by their twitter account. One of their trustees is James Claverley, which is a familiar name, but I can't think why it's familiar. I tried to find the rest of the trustees on their website, but that info wasn't listed (found the other info accidentally on twitter).

Has anyone heard of them or have experience to report?

TIA

I have thought for a while that what the public truly objected to was not “experts” but vested interests pushing their own bias on everyone else and refusing to acknowledge unpalatable consequences.

The problem is that this argument can be used and is used to deny climate change, or the safety and advisability of vaccination. And up till now I'd have countered those claims by saying that scientific consensus gives us the best guess based on available evidence. But now, I can't really say that. Because the scientific community is either silent or pushing this.

Found the tweet mermoose mentioned:

Also more uses of the t-slur, familiar slogans (trans rights are human rights, trans women are women), retweets of mermaids, and anti-science (sex isn't binary).

If you're explaining to the organisation why Pride in STEM are inappropriate and you think they might not understand how hateful that word is, this is a good article by Helen Lewis:

Thanks for that, mermoose.
