CBC redacted the word "woman" when someone uses it in a quote

I know using menstruators and cervix havers isn't new but CBC have decided to censor other people's words and substitute "menstruator" for women. Wtf

Weirdly they allow "girls" later on in the article though. Must have slipped through the net.

What do they mean by brothers and boyfriends though? They could just as easily be menstruators too.

In order to be inclusive they need to call brothers, fathers and boyfriends ejaculators.

I would be interested to know if they have edited the word "men" in other articles or if it is only women who are being erased.

But in this upside down world, brothers, boyfriends and fathers might well be menstruators not ejaculators.

My guess is that the article being about menstruation was a factor in the choice of words, so it wouldn't necessarily make sense in other articles, or to change the word men.
They just thought, oh, we are talking here about people who menstruate who could be men or women, so we will use that word.

It's stupid, but not a matter of a general change of woman to menstruator.

So weird! Into the memory whole goes any reference to women.

I opened the link in the OP and it now reads:

Yes, they must have replaced it.

The've put woman in brackets too, so it looks like they didn't originally replace the word women. Perhaps it was a pronoun and they needed to replace it in the partial quote for clarity. Some people must have complained though.

This needs to be called out each and every time it happens.
