I can’t tell you how utterly disappointed I feel by her comments about Sex and reproduction not being binary. She knows the truth, what the hell is she doing? I’m even more upset by her than by Sarah Champion, she’s a Scientist ffs.

Oh Alice. Really.

"I'm taking a holiday from Twitter for a while. I've argued for reason, compassion and empathy in discussions about sex and gender.

Why? Factual, objective reality exists. If someone thinks they are the opposite sex that’s their feeling. It doesn't change objective, material reality. If they then start to demand everyone else denies reality or they face harm then we are headed down a very slippery slope. We can be kind, but we can not accommodate delusion to the point we damage our ability to describe reality or to the point those stating reality are punished.

What youve done, alice, is argue for blasphemy to be punishable.

Eppur si muove, Alice. Eppur si muove*

She loves herself and women can be narcissists too.

This doesn't surprise me one bit.

She did a test in the middle of Bristol for bike riders and their carbon intake. Guess what, it was all fine and dandy. IN BRISTOL. That's when I knew she was talking shite.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/06/2019 12:52

It is ironic that she is a very vocal campaigner against faith schools, yet is buying into this belief system wholesale.

EweSurname · 27/06/2019 11:35

She's back on twitter

Mermoose · 27/06/2019 11:42

Ah I see the tweet.
I’m heading south to the Vale of Avalon - and I’ll be lecturing at the Free University of Glastonbury at the top of the Park tomorrow at 1.30pm, on the making of a human. Come along! @glastonburyuni* @GlastoFest*

So how exactly does one make a human? I take it it happens when someone who feels like a mother-to-be loves another person who feels like a parent-to-be very much and then something really complicated happens, I mean, way too complicated for most people to really understand so don't go having opinions on stuff, right, I'll let you know what is kind and reasonable and acceptable. And then a while later a theyby appears! No questions tx.

BoudiccaKate · 27/06/2019 11:56

I've been perma banned three times from Twitter because of this utter bollocks. This thread has cheered me up no end

HumberElla · 27/06/2019 12:04

That twitter flounce didn’t last long did it? Going off in a huff not convenient when you need to promote your next gig I guess.

Making a human. Brilliant!

MockerstheFeManist · 27/06/2019 12:26

Making A Human:

When a person who identifies as a mummy and a person who identifies as a daddy love each other very much, their essences combine and produce a person who identifies as a baby.

They report this to the authorities so the person who identifies as a baby can be assigned a gender.

nauticant · 27/06/2019 12:37

That twitter flounce didn’t last long did it?

No but the whole performance did much as Roberts intended it to do. It deflected from the fact she'd come out with rubbish, established her victim status, got loads of people to fluff up her ego, and got in some handy virtue-signalling for good measure.

All that for a week's holiday from twitter. A bargain.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 27/06/2019 13:17

I think it’s called ‘doing a lily’

Ereshkigal · 27/06/2019 13:18

Those last hours though, at least she gave it a week.

AlwaysComingHome · 27/06/2019 15:53

She quit long enough for the newspapers to cover how she’d been the victim of ‘misogyny’ and for James Wong and Adam Rutherford to send her hugs.

That was the point.

Ereshkigal · 27/06/2019 17:30

She has zero integrity. I think her behaviour has been really pathetic.

SirVixofVixHall · 27/06/2019 18:25

I agree Ereshkigal. I am surprised by how she has behaved. I assumed she was more of an adult ! I can only assume she has been Mrs Popular for so long that she can’t take any criticism, even when it is clear and polite .

KatvonHostileExtremist · 27/06/2019 19:02

There was even newspaper reports about poor bullied Alice being forced off twitter.

How does someone leaving twitter for a week because people disagreed with them make the news?

bellinisurge · 01/07/2019 20:57

Just watching her Historic Towns programme on Stewart (Stuart for the English) Stirling. "This was a dangerous time to be a woman " she says as she talks about James VI obsession with witches.

GCAcademic · 01/07/2019 21:18

. You couldn't make it up, could you?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/07/2019 21:30

Witches? Just ID as a man and hey presto (men didn’t get burned so much did they?).

ArcheryAnnie · 11/09/2019 12:11

Alice Roberts has just gone full-on "there's a terrible alliance between gender-crit feminists and the far right!!!!!!!" She's lost the plot entirely.

Bye, Alice, and any respect I once had for you (and I had a lot). If you demonstrate so little regard for the scientific principle in this regard, how can I listen to anything else you say?

Scientists disagree all the time, and that's fine. Calling other people "far-right" for disagreeing with you is not fine.

HumberElla · 11/09/2019 12:32

And evidence for this terrible alliance Alice?

No, thought not.

BiologyIsReal · 11/09/2019 12:34

Agree. If she can be a scientist and get it so wrong on a simple biological fact, can we trust anything she says about anything?

SunsetBeetch · 11/09/2019 13:03

Yup. She's tweeted that crabby article in Vox. Good god, woman!

"Beware biological essentialism: the latest frontier in civil rights, and the unholy alliance between gender-critical feminists and the far right: t.co/fIPATFmW3a "

RubyViolet · 11/09/2019 13:05

She has a tour to sell, look on her website seats available on every date that l can see. If l was a cynic l’d say that this is very good way to attract traffic through her Twitter on through to her website booking system.
Using women to make herself relevant and flog a few seats l suspect.
