There's a documentary showing on Sky Arts right now, talking about music from the 60s, in particular around gay liberation/stonewall etc.
Every single person has been completely matter of fact about gay men and lesbian women and how they were breaking down gender stereotypes and that being totally fine. How these trailblazers enabled young men and women to feel able to come out and be part of a strong and supportive community.
Guess what's not been mentioned once?
It puts current stereotype-based orthodoxy into sharp, depressing relief. And it also shows how absolutely bloody massive the movement was for gay and lesbian rights was; and how the current TRA activity is a pisstaking insult trying to appropriate that struggle.
