Could we end up with a gender critical woman in Number 10?

Slightly tongue in cheek, but I am talking about the woman rumoured to be the 'love interest' of Boris Johnson: Carrie Symonds.

I have no idea if she is GC, but she certainly is interesting.

At the age of 19, she was attacked by John Worboys, and at age 20 she gave evidence against him.
After the parole board decision to release him, she helped to support a judicial review and the government backed down.

At the time she was the director of communications for the Conservative party, and rumour has it that ministers did not take kindly to her interference, given she was supposed to be promoting the government, not working against it.

She left her role at CCHQ, but kept pressure on the government, most recently over the plans for rape victims to be forced to hand over their phones. Her efforts have had the support of Yvette Cooper, and her recent treatment by the press (she has been portrayed as a 'party girl') prompted an open letter condemning the coverage signed by over 70 high profile politicians and journalists, including Lisa Nandy, Nicky Morgan, Stella Creasy, Jess Phillips.

A different take on it from Anna Williamson

Carrie is a close friend of Nimco Ali, the anti-FGM campaigner.
She currently works for Oceana, an environmental charity.

I would be very interested to know her views on Self ID. Could we end up with someone who can wield influence in Number 10? I would prefer a GC female Prime Minister, but that looks very unlikely.

This is an interesting question. I suppose it depends on how much influence she would have, much like Mr May or Mr Thatcher, how much did they influence their PM spouse, do we think Boris would listen, take notice and act upon any recommendations?

I despair of UK politics today, if we end up with Boris, having a GC woman by his side would be a plus but it's a very small plus for the overall havoc he could cause.

At times I think anything would be better than Corbyn though as gender indentity would be signed into law faster than you can sing "oh Jeremy corbynnnnnnnn"!

Silver linings...

Also, Boris's sister is, I think, GC. If not our GC, I'd put money in her being GC.

especially after her stint in BB

Still feel sick at the thought of Boris or Gove being at the helm Envy- not a jealous face.

One of the leadership candidates is gender critical, that I know about. I won't say who it is, as they haven't openly declared themselves so. I doubt they are in with a shot of winning, though.

There is an article in The Telegraph today, by Nimco Ali, supportive of Boris. Can’t seem to log in to read it on my iPad, is anyone able to post a link or at least the gist of it?

This is reassuring.

This is actually the only glimmer of hope I have in politics at the minute.
