"Age-gap" love being promoted and normalised on Channel 5

I am all for consenting adults to live their lives how they see fit. Large age gaps when there are teenagers involved make me very uncomfortable, because I think the power dynamic is off, but I accept they are legal.

This is just grooming in plain sight though isn't it?

Yeh that's fucking rank. Plenty of push back in the comments thankfully. Well worth a formal complaint though, this is definitely grooming and in no way should we be normalising this.

Disgusting. I thought we had left shows like this in the early 00s where they belong. Fat, unattractive and toothless man preys on his friend’s children and hooks up with one of them as soon as it is legal. It is blatant grooming- no other word for it. My friend was in a relationship like this when she was in her late teens. At the time she thought it was wonderful and grown up. Years later she sees it exactly for what it was- grooming and abuse by a controlling and inadequate man who would never be able to get a woman who was his equal. I hope this girl also wises up.

It's as if there are no boundaries any more. Anything goes - fancy your friend's children? Go ahead and Channel 5 will make a programme about you.

Normalising paedophilia seems to be a theme at the moment

Wow. I remember a classmate at school having a boyfriend who was early 20s (we must’ve been about 15).

My mum knew her mum and said ‘do you really think they are playing monopoly when he collects her from school in his car?’ It was creepy - he wasn’t a nice man.

I was a shocker for older men when I was younger. 19 and 45 I think. And I enjoyed every minute. Oh dear.
He didn't know me as a child though.

Yes this is just grooming. Getting involved with a family when the children are young, watching one of them grow up and then getting into a relationship as soon as they are legal is repulsive. I wonder at what age he began to have sexual or romantic thoughts about her and saw her as a potential sexual partner? 12? 14? or even younger? Poor girl.

I am pleased to see the majority of the comments underneath that video agree.

He is clearly a N.O.N.C.E 🤬

Agree entirely with Pota, it’s never the together, attractive type who end up married to 16 year olds is it, it’s always those with a need to take full advantage of an imbalance in power to get close to someone who doesn’t know any better.
