I’m not even sure if this is satire or just some amazing double-think, I find it so hard to tell the difference these days...
Which of these trans lovies gets the say if ‘he’ becomes pregnant? Confused

The perils of Trans double think and anti abortion laws

I saw that on Twitter. I find it hard to believe it's genuine.

Outanabout · 24/05/2019 22:28

It's parody

JellySlice · 24/05/2019 22:29

It's got to be a spoof, surely? Though it's a perfect example of trans Doublethink.

AnyOldPrion · 24/05/2019 22:31

This is why no woman should go along with the ridiculous pretence that anyone can change sex.

The reason it’s the woman’s choice when ot comes to abortion is because it’s the womans’s uterus and body.

Being the pretend woman in a heterosexual relationship does not mean the actual woman must hand over her rights. This is just misogyny in drag.

Reluctant2ndtimer · 24/05/2019 22:31

I really hope it is a spoof but I feel it’s getting harder to tell these days! Confused

Tried to explain this to DP, both out brains are decorating the ceiling

newtlover · 24/05/2019 23:12

exactly, my head is exploding
I do think we should explore 1984 more as a source of shorthand for this lunacy, especially the policing of thought

HerFemaleness · 24/05/2019 23:14

Poe's law.

I'd like to think it's a spoof but you just can't tell these days.

donquixotedelamancha · 24/05/2019 23:39

I do think we should explore 1984 more as a source of shorthand for this lunacy, especially the policing of thought

I don't think we should let the TRAs read it. It will give them too many ideas.

SpeckofStardust · 25/05/2019 02:14

Honestly I’m reading that and am absolutely prepared to believe it’s real and written straight-faced without the slightest shred of irony.
My view may be coloured by the fact I’ve just been informed by DH that cauliflower is now unethical or some such. We’re fucking doomed. Shoot me now or tell me whose dick I need to suck to get off this fucking planet.

Horsewithnobakecookies · 25/05/2019 07:46

Elon Musk?

DpWm · 25/05/2019 09:18

But the phrase "As a man you need to stay out of women's rights" (or whatever exactly) is bullshit, bc men wrote the abortion laws anywa, men are all over women's rights....
But... Idk it looks genuine?
Some one needs to tell that TM that they are in a relationship with a dick head and LTB!

NotTerfNorCis · 25/05/2019 09:20

Do we know it's a spoof? Anything is possible these days.

AncientLights · 25/05/2019 09:37

If the writer thinks they are a man, why are they on the pill? Taking it surely acknowledges female biology, therefore the potential need for an abortion can't be far behind. I won't waste any more of my Saturday morning trying to figure out such nonsense.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 25/05/2019 10:34

Whilst it does read like a spoof, I am in no doubt that if a trans man were to get pregnant under the new law Alabama is wanting and require an abortion, their gender identity would absolutely meaningless and they would be thrown in prison like the rest of those with that pesky female biology they pretend doesn't exist.

Or all women needing an abortion could simply claim they are men/ non binary....

JellySlice · 25/05/2019 13:02

If the writer thinks they are a man, why are they on the pill?

Because the mind that believes in girl-dick and boy-clit also believes that men can get pregnant.

I wonder how the anti-abortion laws refer to the person whose body-autonomy they are attacking - woman or person?

AncientLights · 25/05/2019 13:08

Just belatedly realised that taking the contraceptive pill lowers testosterone. However, I suspect that isn't the reason for taking it in this case.

Not in the US but do we know how their anti-abortion laws will be written: will they talk about women or people procuring (or whatever verb) abortions? If they say 'woman' then a transman could get away with it, as you say Whatsnewpussyhat.

SpeckofStardust · 25/05/2019 13:33

Horsewithnobakecookies Yep, it would be Elon Musk. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

AncientLights With the rolling back of transgender rights* as well as women’s rights under the current US administration, good luck to the transman trying to argue ‘he’ is not a woman if ‘he’ wants an abortion. Female biology? Suck it up ‘bro’ just like the rest of us have to.

*I do have some sympathy with them because a lot of what is happening - re transgender rights to fairness in the areas of housing, medical treatment, discrimination in the workplace etc - is just blatant bigotry in action. That said, my sympathy stops right at the point where, as a woman, I can’t and never have been able to ‘identify out’ of my biology-based oppression no matter how hard I try.

BickerinBrattle · 25/05/2019 17:01

This may be satire, but there ARE Republicans saying, with a good deal of gleeful snark, that women can’t call abortion bans a “war on women” because men can get pregnant too.

DocMarteens · 25/05/2019 17:14

That cannot be real!!

That highlights why we need sex definitions otherwise men who identify as women can involve themselves in decisions about abortion. And we all recognise why men should not be involving themselves in decisions about women's bodies!

DpWm · 25/05/2019 19:53

otherwise men who identify as women can involve themselves in decisions about abortion
Men who identify as men, or rather, just men, passed the recent anti-abortion law in Georgia and Alabama, men basically write all law affecting women in America (and here too). They don't need to identify as women to do that.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/05/2019 11:16

As a man I get no say in the matter anyway...dear god. Thats actually quite a scary way to look at things, but not that surprising. Men have long since wanted to have the final/only say in what female people do with their bodies, they might have found a way with the wokest of the woke really. Declare yourself the woman so its all your choice. How 'clever' Hmm

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/05/2019 11:21

Also, of course incase that is screenshotted to be misread on purpose, I of course think that men shouldn't get a say. In an ideal world there would be a conversation however, the womans choice is final always. My point was not to moan about men not getting a choice, as I see it could be read that way by someone purposely trying to do so.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 26/05/2019 11:22

Also I see its been declared parody. I honestly cannot tell these days and..it looks exactly the same as the bollocks spouted on many TRA timelines. So while this might be parody, there is actually dangerous thinking like that around. But, I should have RTFT before commenting, as always Blush

InionEile · 26/05/2019 22:21

Ah, but there are no women and men anymore, remember? Only uterus-holders and ejaculators, although oddly enough the latter term has not yet caught on. So in this fake situation, the uterus-holder gets to decide over his own uterus.

I'm sure he would still be judged to be incredibly hurtful and transphobic to ever mention his having of a uterus to his transwoman partner, however.

Best to just never mention his reproductive body parts at all ever and, if required, access an abortion in secret without mentioning anything to the transwoman partner. Just like the 1950s again but with the genders reversed! I love how progressive the trans rights movement is. So empowering.
