How refreshing to read an article about women and sport that unapologetically associates the words women and female with female biological issues (periods).

Interesting. I followed the link to the ChangeTheGame campaign and came across this statement:

"The BBC prides itself on being the home of big sporting events and has always led from the front in supporting women's sport across TV, radio and digital channels," she added.

I don't think they have anything to be proud about. I have the BBC news app on the phone and once did a very crude survey on how much women's sport was given space. I'd say it probably made up about 5% of all reports and even then regular (mens) league football was higher than something like the Women's Rugby World cup.

Olympic reporting seems to be a bit more balanced.

There does need to be more coverage of women’s sports. I am not someone who has ever been into sports but I do get a bit interested when the women’s athletics or gymnastics is on and have lately discovered a fleeting interest in watching women’s football. It suddenly has some sort of relevance. I am not interested in those —men— who say it is not as good as the men’s - same with tennis. It is different to watch and it is women doing it.
Who knows what I would have been interested in if sport hadn’t been all men’s soccer and bugry on a Saturday afternoon when I was growing up.

If more people read the women's sport articles, they would write more of them. Because of what OP just wrote I went on the BBC homepage and this article is actually quite good. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/48328333 I am not even that interested in sport.

Oh, they are actually promising to showcase more women's sport this summer: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/48078252

But three out of the five articles I read were about women in sport and their period related injuries. and the one about the female race driver is not so much about her accomplishments as about her being a women in a "male sport"

Oh dear, if that's what they mean by writing more articles about women's sports ....... That is pathetic. Really pathetic.
