Labour nails its colours to the mast

I've just received Labour's campaign leaflet for the upcoming elections. The back page lists the proposed MEPs for the South West, but I'm assuming the remaining 3/4 is generic.
So, 'Labour will push to remove legal and societal obstacles for LGBTI people'
(What's the I in that stand for?)
I aim to ask any Labour canvasser who knocks on the door what they mean by that statement.

I'm presuming the I is for intersex?

Gone2far · 12/05/2019 12:57

of course! I hadn't thought of that

Intersex people have teatedoy asked not to be included with the LGBT alphabet soup Angry

GeordieGenes · 12/05/2019 12:57

*repeatedly

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 12/05/2019 12:58

Why are they doing this to Intersex people?

Gone2far · 12/05/2019 12:59

and yet, there they are. Perhaps Labour want to be seen as going the extra mile to be inclusive

Labour - it’s just so depressing. Who amongst the parties are women supposed to be able to vote for anymore?

ZebrasAreBras · 12/05/2019 13:01

Labour will bring in self ID the moment they're in power - and if it's in their manifesto, the House of Lords won't stop them.

The best we can hope for is that they'll leave the Equality Act alone, and maintain single sex exemptions. But since nobody seems to be doing that at moment, not even rape crisis centres, then I don't hold out much hope.

nauticant · 12/05/2019 13:01

Linking the I to the T makes as much sense as linking the LGB to the T.

However, the I and "trans kids" are the two most valuable human shields employed by trans activists.

Genderfreelass · 12/05/2019 13:09

I is a medical condition relating to chromosomes and really should not be anywhere near T. I don't think LGB should be linked with T either tho as they are in opposition to a certain extent 😕

No way I would ever vote for current labour, they used to be a decent party but not anymore. The 2 party BS needs to go, we need proportional representation and more/better choices.

“The best we can hope for is that they'll leave the Equality Act alone, and maintain single sex exemptions. But since nobody seems to be doing that at moment, not even rape crisis centres, then I don't hold out much hope.”

Yep and that’s why I can’t vote for them. What a shower.

Sexnotgender · 12/05/2019 14:49

Maybe I is for Incel?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 12/05/2019 15:31

Nope - I is for idiots and there's so many of them floating around at the moment that they all need to be under that damned umbrella where they'll fit in fine.

AncientLights · 12/05/2019 17:39

I still don't know what legal & societal obstacles they face. T not being able to get in L's knickers, perhaps.

DpWm · 12/05/2019 18:06

Labour will bring in self ID the moment they're in power

I don't think so.

It's not like Labour never noticed the responses to the GRA MM Consultation.

They'll pay lip service to the T, but the UK will never bring in Self-id now.

DpWm · 12/05/2019 18:08

I
People who are into sex.

placemats · 12/05/2019 19:33

Maybe the I stands for: I haven't a clue.

placemats · 12/05/2019 19:34

Or: I know who I'll be voting for.

it isn't Labour

Beamur · 12/05/2019 19:44

I noticed a post on Facebook today from a friend of mine who is a lifetime Labour supporter. Parents were activists. She posted publicly to say she wasn't voting Labour again whilst they maintained their position on Europe.
Labour could win the next general election. But they will lose it if they do not actually listen to their voters..
Self ID is a vote loser for me.
Despite the Conservatives starting this conversation, I think they will probably be smart enough to see their traditional voters will not support this. Labour I suspect will not.
