MEP elections - pro-women agenda?

Just got my ballot papers and wondering how to vote.

I’m obviously ruling out the Tories, UKIP and Brexit parties.

Is there any party that actually has a GC, feminist, pro-women agenda?

I believe the Communist party is the only part that has come out as pro women.

Thanks. This is tricky as it feels like a wasted vote. I was hoping for Change UK/Lid Dems but I know I’m clutching at straws.

UKIP are against Self ID. HmmConfused

Can you look into the background if candidates you like to see if they have ever made any GC statements or alluded to them?

It's not ideal I realise but every party it seems has TWAW as the official line, apart from those I would never vote for.

I don't think so.
TBH I see this particular election as single issue, a sort of proxy referendum. If Brexit goes ahead the results are irrelevant.

Yes, I’m going to do some background research on candidates.

Why is there no mainstream party for people like me? By which I mean, women? You know, 51% of the population...

^ rhetorical. No need to answer that.

I wish you OP, I have hopes for Change but def not LD since Challenor joined.

I don't think Change have taken a position on this yet have they?

I dream that we might have a proper Women's Equality party one day, maybe we need to start one?!

If you feel there isn't one then spoilt ballots will stand out more in the Euros as the Leavers will be voting this time.

BorisBadunov · 08/05/2019 17:11

But as EU elections are PR, I really don’t see the point of spoiling my ballot when I can support a pro EU party that has real chances of getting elected (I’m voting in a pro EU region). It’s just a shame that I need to ignore the —penis— elephant in the room.

Could we ask the Change Party what their stance is. Maybe I am wrong but I can see Anna Soubry sticking up for women.

I think it would be a pretty pointless own goal for moderate, centrist types to spoil their ballots at this election.

If it's on their radar at all, they're probably hoping no one does ask.

On the one hand, every vote counts in a PR election. On the other, I can't think of a single Remain party that's GC (though Lily Madigan seems to be doing her part to peak trans the SNP by going after Joanna Cherry.

No easy answers I'm afraid - Change UK will do their damnedest to Remain all things to all men for as long as they possibly can so I wouldn't expect too much help from that direction.
