Anyone have a share token for this?

"A research journal will allow academics to publish anonymously so they can write about issues such as transgender rights, abortion, colonialism and eugenics without fear of death threats, the prospect of being sacked and vile online abuse.

The feminist Camille Paglia, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, is facing down demands for her sacking after some students alleged she is transphobic..."

Eek. I find myself on the same side of people I used to strongly disagree with, and still do in most respects. By which I mean Camille Paglia. One thing you can say for Paglia, she's never afraid to be controversial.

I always enjoy reading Paglia, she is quite funny and she's actually well read, which is more than I can say for a lot of the gender studies types.

So I looked to find something about her being sacked, and found an Atlantic article. According to the second paragraph the student petition says,

“Camille Paglia should be removed from UArts faculty and replaced by a queer person of color,”

That pretty much says it all, doesn't it?

The only problem with this journal is that its inbox will be overloaded with articles! I know plenty of academics who want to speak up about this but would only do so anonymously.

What a good idea. I can hear the frothing of impotent anger already.

No share token but there was a radio programme about this a few months ago:

to protect authors of controversial articles [[http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-46146766]]

The problem is that there is so much pressure to publish is that some people might feel they don’t have time to write something they can’t include in their publication list. Awful that this should even be necessary.

Singer, who has had a scanner installed in his Princeton office to check for suspicious packages, as well as a panic button, said the assaults on academic freedom were coming more from the left than the right, which was “disappointing”.

Who would have thunk it...

Good idea. I like Peter Singer. No stranger to controversy himself.
