Can I just say, that if there are any GC women facing legal challenges from TRAs, I would be more than happy to chip in to a find for legal costs. I’ve donated to two or three similar things over the last year but not for a few months so am definitely on to do so again. Just if it were needed by anyone.

I've donated before and will do again.

KarenTheCashRegister · 30/04/2019 07:44

I’d happily donate.

ILuvBirdsEye · 30/04/2019 07:57

Will happily chip in.

Rumbletum2 · 30/04/2019 08:00

I’m behind. What is this about?

Redshoeblueshoe · 30/04/2019 08:05

Rumble details are on the Harrop thread
Or in today's Telegraph

sackrifice · 30/04/2019 08:07

Is Posie chipping in?

What has what Posie does got to do with you?

Posie isn't even on here any more. Get over it.

Macareaux · 30/04/2019 08:27

I'm flush with the cash that I used to give to CiN, Amnesty, the Labour Party et al. So I'm in

Joisanofthedales · 30/04/2019 09:17

I'm in too

Upthepong · 30/04/2019 09:26

Me too (oh the irony of using those words!)

Daughterofmabel · 30/04/2019 10:05

im in

RobJessel · 30/04/2019 11:21

Fantastic, what's best way of getting in touch? I'm a complete n00b on MN, don't know how to do DMs or any of the rest of it.

Jellybabiesarebabies · 30/04/2019 11:22

Definitely.

S1naidSucks · 30/04/2019 11:25

I’d definitely support that. A cause that supports actual women.

RicketyClickety · 30/04/2019 11:28

Me too. My monthly Amnesty payment needs to go somewhere else now.

CadburysTastesVileNow · 30/04/2019 11:28

Count me in

LangCleg · 30/04/2019 11:50

RobJessel - is it worth getting in contact with the Centre for Women's Justice to ask them how they go about things? I know they generally use CrowdJustice for fundraising.

I would be happy to contribute to individual or strategic funds.

Needmoresleep · 30/04/2019 12:15

Is Posie chipping in?

It seems generally accepted that Posie has been able to raise funds. I wonder if there is a pattern. Initially relatively high profile voices were targeted: Glinner; Bellos; Posie. Then the police were used: Harry the Owl etc. Now it appears that despite trying, Steph has been unable to spur the local bobby into action. So is going alone.

A fund that could be used for whoever is affected (MKRHvoice's twitter ban, someone losing their job after doxxing?) and who has a good case/defence, might act as a general deterrent.

My understanding is that high profile law firms have a specific pro bono initiative for gay/trans, though interestingly the support that seemed to be in place for Jess Bradley, and promised in the Bellos case, seems to have died away.

Women and others (Harry the Owl, Miranda etc) need to be able to be able to fight on a level playing field.

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 30/04/2019 12:24

I was perusing the DIVA Power list list yesterday (may start a thread on that separately).

Lo and behold :

98. Emma Woollcott
Partner at Mishcon De Reya.

Remind me again what law firm was behind a recent high profile tw-related case?

FannyCann · 30/04/2019 15:14

I'm in too. I've been thinking about the need for a general fund like this for some time. Thanks OP.

DpWm · 30/04/2019 15:25

So, this is basically a concept for a gender critical feminist crowd funder, for people to send money which can then be sent out to people who find themselves being targeted with legal action by TRAs? I think that's a great idea, and so long as everything is transparent, like who gets what amount and when and why, and donations publicly available but optional anonymity it could work.

It would be easy to set up.
I'd recommend someone with a higher profile eg lots of SM followers and a blog already, should set it up.

Or is this a cryptic post about one specific person who is right now being targeted in such a way?

DpWm · 30/04/2019 15:26

FPFW could run it?

Manderleyagain · 30/04/2019 15:40

I'm in. It's especially important to get test cases.

howmanyleftfeet · 30/04/2019 16:10

I don't think this deliberately is a cryptic post about a particular person.

However there are at least 2 things going on. Caroline Farrow has been targeted by that odious self-IDed "lawyer" - see this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3573048-WHAT-THE-FUCK

There's also another thing about to come up - can't say anything right now except watch this space!

And, there's already Glinner's fund that he says he's going to use for this purpose.

Is it worth hanging on a few days to see what happens with Caroline and also the other one that's about to appear - should we maybe focus on those two first and then something more general after?

(Does Caroline need a fighting fund, I imagine so? Has anyone already started this / spoken to her about it?)

Candidpeel · 30/04/2019 16:33

I am in touch with the woman with the employment case (the same one justicewomen and howmanyleftfeet are talking about). It will be an important test case.

If you want to be put in touch via FB you can DM me Grin. Otherwise wait till Sunday for more info.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 30/04/2019 19:20

Yes I was being deliberately cryptic about a particular case as at the time of writing discussion about it had to come off social media - but at the same time the general principle which has been developed on this thread also stands. There seem to be lots of cases which need support, sadly!
