15 SNP politicians, including Joanna Cherry, have signed a letter about proposed changes to the GRA which states; “conflating sex with gender identification affects a wide range of policy and service delivery, including data collection, education, health and social care, justice and sport. New information about this topic is emerging all the time and deserves to be properly scrutinised”.
I used to live in Joanna Cherry's constituency. In about 2017 I sent her a letter with my concerns about self ID. The response I got was appalling. It addressed none of the concerns raised but simply stated that the SNP was committed to introducing the most progressive legislation on transgender issues in the world. Joanna Cherry couldn't even be bothered to sign it from herself. It was an utter lack of engagement and simply singing form the SNP hymnbook of being the 'most progressive on everything ever' without looking at what the implications of that might be.

So this turn about from Joanna Cherry shows what can be achieved by those who are tenacious enough to keep raising reasonable concerns and keep demanding reasonable answers.

It's extremely encouraging about what can happen when you don't let bullies control the agenda or silence dialogue. Reasonable people then start to listen and engage.

The response you originally got from Cherry suggests she was then doing what we know most people initially do - they fail to pay enough attention and/or interrogate the detail and fall in with being woke and nice.

Most people, if the actuality of what's being proposed is explained to them (or they bother to interrogate it for themselves), tend to be brought up short by it.

No I don't think so. But the amazing women in Scotland who have refused to be silenced into submission sure did.
