"Paedophilia is a sexual orientation" taught in California schools

Tell me it isn't true.

freedomproject.com/the-newman-report/1077-pedophilia-being-taught-as-sexual-orientation-in-california-schools

Horrified, the mother turned activist expressed shock at Torres' admission. “So sex between a man and a boy is a sexual orientation?” she asked. Torres did not deny it. “It's something that occurred in history, and so this is really important for us to include,” the assistant superintendent said, implying that yes, sexual relations between a man and a boy — properly considered rape under the laws of every state — is a “sexual orientation.”

Watch the video in that report.

Thanks for that link. This paragraph stood out:

Consider: With “sexual orientation” increasingly becoming a legally protected category across almost half of the states already — with Congress working on it too — the implications of defining pedophilia and pederasty as such are hard to overstate. For instance, in California, “discrimination” based on “sexual orientation” is prohibited. If pedophiles simply have a different “sexual orientation,” does that mean schools are required to hire them?

The pieces of the jigsaw are all starting to fall into place.

OhHolyJesus · 21/04/2019 09:39

Wow

I am deeply shocked and also not really surprised at the same time.

twattymctwatterson · 21/04/2019 09:46

Do you know much about this source op? I'm not familiar with it and im not sure about it.

DrG · 21/04/2019 09:50

Looking forward to child rapists being included in the no outsiders programme.

This is what happens when sexual liberation programmes get brought into schools, no adult deserves to have their sexual orientation validated on a school curriculum.

We need to fight hard to bring safeguarding back centre stage.

MockerstheFeManist · 21/04/2019 09:54

I see Polanski is suing the Academy for equating him with Bill Cosby.

Lamaha · 21/04/2019 10:04

I haven't got the time now to do a thorough search to find links that validate the story, but I did find this:

thefederalist.com/2019/02/21/pedophile-project-7-year-old-next-sexual-revolutions-hit-parade/

The Federalist is an American conservative online magazine and podcast that covers politics, policy, culture, and religion, and publishes a newsletter.[2][3] The site was co-founded by Ben Domenech and Sean Davis and launched in September 2013.[4]

And yes The Federalist is an anti-abortion conservative website but we can't be choosy about those who expose lunacy, since the American left has gone batshit crazy on identity politics.

I would disagree that we can't be choosy. I think it's really important that we critically analyse sources to determine whether we feel they're credible - or we'll lose credibility ourselves. I watched the video and tbh it's not clear that it confirms anything - it certainly doesn't confirm that paedophilia is being taught as a sexual orientation or anything other than there's been a discussion about the existence of historical child abuse in class. There's very little context in the video which seems to be a recording of a recording.

Katterinaballerina · 21/04/2019 10:38

What Twatty said. Also, teaching isn’t condoning. All classics students learn about the Ancient Greeks views on sex.

GabrielleNelson · 21/04/2019 10:48

I'm dubious about that website. It sounds to me like they're homophobic. Of course we have to be vigilant about people who want to abolish or reduce the age of consent or normalise adult/child or adult/teen sexual acts. However, that website was pretty clearly one step away from wanting to get same-sex attraction outlawed again. We need to be vigilant about that too.

OhHolyJesus · 21/04/2019 10:58

I think the video is clear that the woman answering says it is being taught as a part of learning about history. I need to watch it again but she mentions gender. We don't know the background about the anal sex bit but I don't think that children need to be taught about adults having sex with children as a way of teaching about history.

andyoldlabour · 21/04/2019 11:36

It appears that they are also teaching transgenderism to infants in California, and that parents assign a gender to children at birth.
I feel that we live in a very messed up World.

"The curriculum teaches children as young as pre-kindergarten that their parents “assigned” them a gender at birth and that a “spectrum” of genders exists."

www.washingtonexaminer.com/red-alert-politics/radical-california-curriculum-wants-to-start-teaching-kindergartners-about-transgenderism

TimeLady · 21/04/2019 11:47

Someone should ask the Californians if all those baby girls who were aborted under the one child per couple regime in China could have been saved if only their parents had 'assigned' them as boys at birth.

Beyond stupid. I despair.

Lamaha · 21/04/2019 12:39

I think it's really important that we critically analyse sources
That I agree with, as far as reliability is concerned.
I don't agree with rejecting news reported by a Christian news site (for instance) just because they are Christian, or promote some political stances we don't agree with. If the liberal press does not report things like this, and they are true, and the Christian press does, I would still listen. That's what I meant with "choosy".
Obviously, truth is the criteria.
I'll do some more research when I have the time.

Historically, bestiality is also just an orientation. (Whoever learnt Latin and went beyond school texts knows that noblewoman engages with stallion was a thing, they made constructions for that) Wonder if they teach that, too.

HarryHarry · 21/04/2019 14:47

I’m wondering about the source too. They also mention that Harvey Milk was a paedophile and rapist, which was a bit of a shock to me personally as he was a friend of my family in the US. I tried to find a reputable source for that claim but only came up with more conservative right-wing sites.

unflushable · 21/04/2019 15:14

"Sexual orientation" just means what a person is sexually attracted to.

It's not a moral judgement on whether something is ethical or unethical.

scotsheather · 21/04/2019 15:30

Hopefully fake news or a contortion of the truth as we see all too often.

InionEile · 21/04/2019 20:05

That website is pretty bad, clearly a right-wing source. Right wing homophobes in the US like to use the term ‘California public schools’ as code for ‘Communist homosexual brainwashing’ without much evidence to back it up so I would take the information on that website with a large pinch of salt.

unflushable · 21/04/2019 21:26

That website is pretty bad, clearly a right-wing source.

Anything which involves whipping up hysteria and hatred towards paedophiles is generally right-wing. Take a look at the "paedo hunter" groups across the UK, for example.

Lamaha · 22/04/2019 01:28

I've submitted the story to Snopes. It might take some time to get feedback though. They are overwhelmed these days.

iwunderwhy · 22/04/2019 05:33

Remember Roy Moore was fully supported by christian right wingers for years when they knew what that man was. These hypocrites occupy ground that is neither moral or high when it conveniently suits their usual anti abortion / anti gay /and mostly anti women causes.

T1meForDebate · 22/04/2019 07:13

TBH I think it should be taught - to heighten children's awareness about their own safety, and perhaps to alert a child that what may be happening to them in secret has a name and a consequence to abusers. It may even encourage them to report it to the teacher who teaches it with sensitivity and care. Opening a subject up in a classroom in the right way is more the issue.

Moralitym1n1 · 22/04/2019 07:27

Only if it's taught in a way that makes it clear it's not normal or ok to any extent. That's the danger with presenting it as a form of sexuality. Kids tend to accept things v much at face value and not think about rights and wrongs until later.

Also sexual orientation is the wrong desc my view. Some paedophiles are apparently attracted only to children and I believe they've found some things physically/in their brain structure that group all has in common - that's not an orientation, more of a dysfunction/abnormality.

The main group of paedophiles, opportunistic sexual predators and exploiters, who are not attracted only to kids - and whom it is likely the majority of ancients included (just as they are in the majority today) just did it because they could. They lived in brutal, exploitative, violent, hierarchical societies where exploiting children sexually just fitted alongside all the other forms of exploitation, slavery, brutality and immorality that were common. We don't live in societies like that anymore and haven't for some time.
