By, now deceased, fertility practitioner.

Seems men need chaperoning in the lab too! From using their own semen...

And yes its a horrible thing to do, totally unethical.

Antibles · 13/04/2019 16:19

This is utterly atrocious conduct by a doctor. If he's been alive and practising he'd have been struck off.

BixBeiderbecke · 13/04/2019 16:33

I think there was a Taggart where it turned out a doctor in a fertility clinic had fathered 20 children or something. Will have a look.

Knitclubchatter · 13/04/2019 17:04

I’ve read cases like this several times over the years.
Two from 2018 alone
www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4606814
Then another in the US news story dated August 2018.

Smotheroffive · 21/04/2019 22:29

365 days suspended sentence for obstructing the law, and fraud, and denials.

So basically nada. That was in the US though. Any donor should have limited to 3 donations, it said, but there are at least 36, some if which where the family were using the fathers sperm, or so they thought. Angry

There needs to be a law against forced impregnation or impregnation under false pretenses. At the moment there's nothing. If a woman gets pregnant from rape, or in this sort of way, the rapist gets away with it.

I saw that Taggart. At the time, I thought it was ridiculously far-fetched. But it seems it wasn’t.

What an awful story. Feel bad especially for those who thought their partners were the father Sad.

Smotheroffive · 22/04/2019 00:35

who thought their partners were the father

Or the DC who grew up not realising their df wasn't actually biologically their df at all Confused. It's shit horrific

They delved into their genetic past to find themselves all linked to all these other half-siblings they'd known nothing about Hmm

Messed with their heads majorly

knit how do you think your DIL in would feel if her choice of anonymous donor were ignored, replaced with the sperm of the doctor doing the insemination? If you have close family experience of this I’m stunned you’re so dismissive.
