"The final straw came when another friend’s teenage daughter, who has short hair and wears trousers, was approached by a teacher who asked if she wanted to join a support group for gender-questioning children."
I hate all of this. It's everything that was fought against. Being judged on outward appearance - the insinuation that someone cannot possibly be female if they don't abide by the rules of what it is to be a woman (long hair, make up, etc).
Having said that, I would actively want anyone who is trans to get as much support as possible, I would never, ever want to deny anyone that.
I just feel so sad at the moment. The current media climate is awful. All of the progress that was made. I'm scared in the future it may be going backwards, if it hasn't started to already. I don't want to lose sight of the huge amount of progress. But I just want women and girls to be able to dress how they want, act how they want, do anything they want, without being ushered into a segment that essentially says you're not a woman. You're a man. Because only men do these things (Short hair, tomboy outfit). It's wrong!
