Big ups to the women protesting at Downview today. Sounds like it's been well received. Lovely day for it. I spied a pic of Julia Long radically sitting on a chair, hopefully this dangerous act will go unpunished.

Solidarity with you all & I hope this action yields results. No person who is anything other than biologically female should be in a women's prison. A wing that allows daytime access to women doesn't cut it.

It’s sad Spokk. They had to keep it quiet for fear of threats and violent backlash. There must be hundreds of other women who would want to join a protest such as this, but publicity is too much of a risk.

So there are about 3k male people with GRCs. That at least 3 of them are dangerous criminals who are not safe to be put into a women's prison seems a high proportion to me, without doing the maths.

Something's wrong there.

I don't think a huge protest at the prison itself would have been a good idea. Protesters were very careful not to disrupt visiting hours or cause any distress to visitors. A big protest might have caused visiting to be cancelled altogether which would be awful.

A huge protest at the MoJ on the other hand ...

...Just make sure you go to the MoJ and not the Home Office Wink
