Why would comic relief get a cut? Surely that is a way to hide how the money is being distributed.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 28/03/2019 11:11

If I remember correctly from the For Women Scotland meeting in January, in order to apply for the funding from the Tampon Tax the group had to state they were "trans-inclusive", and it wasn't acceptable to say that you were inclusive of transmen and non-binary people (ie, the actual people who need tampons and sanitary pads).

Ereshkigal · 28/03/2019 11:13

What bullshit. Who has decreed that?

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 28/03/2019 11:51

It was the Government's policy Ereshkigal, but I can't remember if it was the Scottish Gov or the UK Gov.

Hopefully one of the other Scottish MNers who were at the meeting will see the thread and remember. A woman stood up and said that she was involved with a period poverty charity and had applied for TT funding from the Gov and was told she was not allowed to be trans-inclusive of transmen, had to be transwomen. I think the funding came from the UK Gov via the Scottish Gov (and Scotland got a disproportionately low amount).

Male people should not be getting a penny. Imagine the outcry if trans specific funding got diverted to a women's group.

EverardDigby · 28/03/2019 14:41

Neither of the applications I have seen for Tampon Tax funding made you state that you were trans-inclusive, one didn't mention it, and the other had a category for female that included transwomen but didn't ask for a breakdown of transwomen versus women for expected beneficiaries . It also said that a small amount of funding could go to men and boys and transmen.

Is there anything more hateful than taxing menstruators for menstruating but insisting that the tax be used to benefit ejaculators or else?

EverardDigby · 28/03/2019 16:06

I was a bit WTF when they first announced it, using women's tax to clear up the mess caused by men - SV / DV etc., but I guess that's worse than the money actually going to men.

This all day long.
