I don't think he's in any way actually thinking about this, and as a man, he is completely unaware or uninterested in the underlying misogyny of the ideas. I'm surprised the overtones of homophobia haven't disturbed him.

When I was 7-8 I was a typical tomboy. Loved playing football, bmx biking, climbing trees etc, all my friends were boys, hated dresses, had my hair cut short. I also used to beg my DM to buy me clothes that my DB would wear, like Ben sherman shirts etc.

I suppose if that happened now I'd be classed as trans.

Meant to add, I'm very much a woman now.
Why is there so much talk of trans now? Why are there so many of our young people wanting to change? Changing sex is impossible.

If the parents encourage a wait and see attitude which of course they bloody should do and the child later decides they are not trans...

When I was 7/8 I called myself a boys name, had short hair, wore boys clothes etc. Thankfully everyone around me laughed it off and let me get on with it. I dread to think if adults had started telling me that yes I was actually a boy, and that I could change into a boy if I wanted, what path I would have been led down.
If all the adults in my life had started taking me to meetings about being transgender etc, telling me I was right and I absolutely was a boy I would have believed them. I would also imagine all the attention would have been quite heady and addictive.
I was no more a boy than I was a unicorn. Terrifying that children cannot just use their imagination and be what they want to be that day, week, month or year without adults getting involved!

I suspect it's coming from a place of 'kindness' and a desire to be accepting & empathy. Having had his own mental health battles, they are probably colouring his view. I'm not legitimising his views by the way. He's not particularly talking from a 'rights' point of view, although affirming a child of 6/7 inevitably opens that door.

I'm sure he's given this matter more thought, than he cracks on & is now firmly entrenched. No rowing back for Matt.

To be fair to Matt Lucas, he accepts he hasn’t done much reading and he has engaged politely without telling anyone they’re a bigot. He said to Glinner that they see it differently but it doesn’t affect their friendship.

Frankly if more of those who believe in the gender ideology were more like him, women wouldn’t be threatened and doxxed and it would be far easier to get somewhere.

More generally though in society, in life, people will always disagree on stuff. Respectful disagreement is part of life and I can cope with it.

This insanity in which young children are attributed with the maturity and agency to determine their gender is so very similar to the narrative promoted by the Paedophile Information Exchange in the 1980s.

Back then people working in the public sector and in child protection were provided with all kinds of insane training and literature that claimed to be about "empowering young people" when in reality it was about making young people, including young children, available to be abused with impunity.
